^ All that line does is prove he had the potential to be more than just a tack on. It doesn't mean he wasn't a tack on though. The execution makes it so.

Also, I disagree with the notion that it's "the definitive, comics-accurate Spider-Man". Even if we accept it's the best film version so far, I don't think we should make that claim until we see how independent this Peter is. I felt he was treading too much Robin territory in this with how clingy he was to Tony and with [BLACKOUT]Tony making him the spider signal[/BLACKOUT].

It feels really weird when a bunch of big time Batman geeks enjoy kicking the snot out of a Batman movie, enjoy praising a movie of a character they maybe don't usually read his comics, and pat on each others backs for agreeing.

Even when I mostly agree about the kicking the Batman movie that should've been the movie I wanted to see for a couple of decades.

I agree 100%. When I saw the movie at Peter said that line I was thinking, "ah I see where they might be going with this" in terms of the movie's themes. But they did absolutely nothing with it. It's just a vague connection that goes nowhere and actually illustrates why Spidey's inclusion in the story wasn't as fully realized as it could have been. I liked the potential of using the great power, great responsibility theme to tie in with the conflict but it really needed further exploration for it to have meant anything.

Also agree that it's jumping the gun to call this version definitive.

I really liked the CW, but Faraci's attempt to exaggerate what amounts to a throw away moment in the film into some sort of brilliant key to the film is just laughable.

He's a classic BS artist in addition to being a Marvel Zombie though, so I'm not surprised.

*Hats off, moment of silence*

The industry could use more folks like him.

Who has a more beautiful facepalm?

This is what I think of half of the Dark Knight Trilogy vs Captain America Trilogy thread

The only part of that thread that made me facepalm is Messiahdecoy posting links to it in the Cap forum to make sure he wins the poll. Some fans can't stand to see their favorite lose.

Even as someone who favors the cap trilogy, that just reeks of desperation

Pretty sure that one prefers Batman.
His efforts are not as bad as the one calling Cap movies mediocre and knocking hard on them to prove his point about TDK trilogy.

Ehhh no, someone ragging on the Cap movies is not nearly as bad as someone going to the trouble of posting links around other forums just to make sure their favorite wins the poll. That is just pathetic.

Good for Bale, he brought heart to the character even though I wasn't crazy about his Batman

While Affleck has the looks and the moves down, we have yet to see him emotionally connect as Bruce Wayne. The senseless manslaughter also doesn't help.

Welcome to the Hype.

Arnett outnumbers West in votes? HOW?

It's only a 12 vote difference. It's not like he's a huge leap ahead of him. Arnett is hilarious in The Lego Movie. Personally I thought he was the biggest scene stealer. And the new Lego Batman movie looks even better.

Just saw Civil War. For a reinterpretation of a character I'd definitely give the nod to Holland's Spiderman over Affleck's Batman.

Batman and references to Batman are almost all that I liked about that movie, and the funny with him is hilarious, especially Bruce Wayne and Han Solo bits.

In case you guys missed it.... batman11 made another trailer.

That video is awesome. A clever combo of clips from several terrific movies.
