The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 4

My favourite Joker's are

1. Ledger
2. Hamill
3. Emerson

It is not surprising to see Ledger and Hamill making up the top two, with Ledger winning.
Live action:
1. Ledger
2. Nicholson
3. Romero
4. Leto

Animated:
1. Hamill
2. Emerson
3. Dimaggio

So in a way, it was shameless marketing.
Not cute.

A lot of the Joker stuff in the trailers isn't in the movie.

Red Skull is not very popular, but he's important to the lore of Captain America, and they skimmed over him.

Red Skull is seen more as a disappointment than terrible. Whereas Eisen Lex is rated as one of the worst CBM villains ever, and Letoker is going for the record of most disappointing and forgettable villain.

Seems to be a good list. Too bad I don't remember Emerson.
I like Kevin Michael Richardson, and I like the show he voiced that character in.

I think maybe it's time to bring this up again.

Emerson was in TDK Returns animated movie. I loved what he did. Really cold and detached, but creepy and authoritive too.
I know that bit, I just have no recollection of any of the voice performers outside of Peter Weller and David Selby who sounded remarkably like Bob Hastings.

I know this isn't a popular opinion around here, but SS made me appreciate BvS all the more.

What I read about it makes me want to skip it.
Word of mouth is keeping me away from the unpopular Ghostbusters remake.

Never let word of mouth keep you away from something if you already wanted to see it.

I'm hearing this movie is a mess but the characters have great chemistry and the main squad is great, just that they're on the wrong mission. Is it possible you guys are being too hard on it?

After I disobeyed WoM about BvS, I think I'll spare myself the displeasure of seeing GB and SS, at least for the next few months.
If Skwad just releases the director's cut and it's a superior movie, I'll forget the theatrical cut and be thankful I did not sit through it.

No. It should have been a good movie, but they fumbled it. I agree the writers gave the squad the wrong mission too.

Agree. Others may like it, and I hope they do.

I think the response has been justifiable, myself. The film has no real story or drive to it, it's not about anything, characters exist without developing anywhere, Joker's a disaster, Enchantress is insufferable, and the editing makes BVS look like it should win the best editing Oscar. There's some good chemistry, some fun moments and some great performances (especially from Viola Davis), but on the whole, it misses on the fundamentals and has nothing to say. Even the action is uninspired and boring.

I'm with the Queen of Snow. What annoys me even more is thinking they had a better film in the can, but freaked out and altered things to be more family friendly. And this is a film of villains.

Seen it the other night and I can’t say much that hasn’t already been said by most. It was just a failure of a movie and the only characters I liked had to be Deadshot and Waller, but other than that, Harley was okay and Joker was incredibly out of character. I’d venture to say this movie is worse than the previous one, but I can’t really tell, they’re just not good at all. I would be happy to like these movies but they’re so bad that they’re not even enjoyably bad.

Greens posted it a year or two ago in the Letoker thread, I quoted and added text and linked it.
You quoted both posts and added this emoji

The film is mess for sure. I see what it could've been and it makes me very sad. The positives? Margot Robbie owned and El Diablo had the most interesting character arch. The scenes that really worked were the "birth" of Harley and when El Diablo sees "reality." Both had a lot of emotion and were brilliantly crafted in my opinion. I didn't hate the Joker either.

Ehhh..."family friendly" more like appealing to the teen crowd because it felt like a poorly edited music video..

It did feel that way, but there is no doubt they were gutless and made the Joker more of a Romeo, the villains more relatable, etc.

Damn. SS is making the box office its *****. Looks like this might have better WOM than BvS.

I'm not that surprised honestly. I could see the movie having a similar appeal to a Fast and the Furious movie for mainstream audiences. Just dumb, "edgy" fun with tons of one liners and some good characters.

If you're a bit more if a discerning fan though, the movie simply does not live up to its potential. It's aiming much lower than BvS and yet still falls short. It's just frustrating.

I kinda miss craigdbfan, wanted to know what he thinks of the movie, and of Jai Courtney's role in it.

This. However, there's now reports that it had a 40% drop from Friday to Saturday, which is apparently very high and on par with BvS... Soooo.... *shrug*

Yeah, it appears to have terrible legs.
