Such rich emotions, and you feel him a plank of wood?

Such subtle, yet deep expression of emotions, brings a tear of joy to my eyes.
The perfect Superman.
:oldrazz:

He's a plank.
I'm glad misslane38 did not venture here.

In Cavill's defense, he's given literally nothing to work with. I still think he could make a good Superman with the right script and direction. The role doesn't require Oscar-level acting ability. He's got the look and the presence, he just needs to play a non-depressed version who gets an actual line of dialogue to speak.

That said, whether you want to blame him or not, I do agree he was a plank of wood in BvS.

A good number of posters share that thought, and I agree with it.

Agreed, if anyone's seen him in Guy Ritchie's Man From UNKLE (decent movie), his performance there testifies to this.

Still hope we actually get to see him playing the Superman from the comics during his run, perhaps starting with MoS 2, which I hope Snyder has nothing to do with.

How is the reaction from the DCEU fanbase? Are they triggered?

Enjoy.

The nominations for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice are flat-out ridiculous.

I saw a lot of films this year and a lot of sequels, prequels and remakes. The fact that a film like Ghostbusters wasn't nominated takes away much of the credibility.

Most of the thing is that hating this film, and hating the DCEU has become so mainstream and cool to do that it really didn't stand a chance almost from the jump.

Even before it came out, people were looking for reasons to hate it and hoping for it to fail. So when it came out, and the first reviews were slipping, the hate only snowballed and continued.

Calling Zack Snyder a hack is ridiculous. The man's resume is impressive and the quality of images he can churn out on screen is well above average.

Are the DCEU films perfect? No. Without question, no.

But they are definitely not among the worst films of any of their respective years. Not by a long shot.

Hell, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a better film than Suicide Squad in almost every way and it received a "Worst Picture" nod and the latter did not. Simply because it was cooler to hate Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice than it was Suicide Squad

Don't get me started on how dumb it is that Jared Leto is nominated for "Worst Supporting Actor" for the Joker.

Ride Along 2
The 5th Wave
Fifty Shades of Black
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2
God's Not Dead 2
Alice: Through The Looking Glass
Mother's Day
Warcraft
Ghostbusters
Ben-Hur
Yoga Hosers
Max Steel
Collateral Beauty

The above are all studio releases from 2016 much more deserving a spot on the nomination list. It's not even close in most cases. But hating these movies wasn't the cool thing to do in 2016 and wouldn't get the Razzies the desired attention that nominating a film like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice would.

^ Robin is the only outraged response I've read so far here.

How could anyone NOT be excited about Justice League?!

So many awesome promo shots like: Standing in a doorway! Standing in some sort of shipping container! Ooooohhh... I just can't wait!:mrk: :o

Fitting avatar for the occasion, Joker. :applaud

What's with the extreme hatred so many have for Ghostbusters? It's not terrible, it's more like average and forgettable.

I didn't hate it. Forgettable and not that funny overall is more like it. I still think a reboot/remake was useless.

http://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2017/01/donald-trump-bane-speech-chuck-dixon-graham-nolan

Did you notice, this Friday, that a certain line from Donald Trump’s inaugural address—”We are transferring power from Washington, D.C., and giving it back to you, the people”— sounded suspiciously similar to an address delivered by the supervillain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises (“We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you, the people”)?

If so, you were far from alone. The comparison spread like wildfire across social media and online outlets alike, inspiring both glee and incredulous despair. (Has it really come to this? Already?) And while neither Christopher Nolan nor Jonathan Nolan, who wrote The Dark Knight Rises, has responded yet to the comparison—Vanity Fair did reach out to both of them on Friday, as well as Tom Hardy, who brought Bane to life—The Hollywood Reporter did get a chance to chat about the incident with writer Chuck Dixon and artist Graham Nolan (no relation to Christopher or Jonathan), two of the men who created Bane for a 1993 Batman comic series. (Writer Doug Moench is the third.)

The twist? Though Dixon agrees that Trump is “like a Batman villain” in “many ways,” he doesn’t exactly mind the comparison: “I think those that oppose him fail to understand that a lot of those tics and mannerisms that they see as faults were positives to those who voted for him. The bluntness. The swagger,” Dixon said. He added that he was and is a Trump supporter—and that he found Trump’s inaugural address inspiring, Bane-ian as it may have been: “It was also a warning to almost everyone seated behind him. He’s going to keep being Trump with no plans to compromise. This is going to be a wild ride.”

Nolan, though apparently slightly less enthusiastic than his longtime collaborator, is in the same boat. He doesn’t object to comparing Trump to a supervillain—“politicians and public figures are fair game for jokes and satire”—but he does support the new president: “I voted for Trump in the general election,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “Let’s see what he does before we lose our minds. He couldn’t be worse than the entrenched establishment we’ve had for many years.”

Well, then! Perhaps for the full effect, we should ask Mark Hamill to read Dixon and Nolan’s words in his Joker voice.

I am not terribly surprised that those two voted for Trump. I wonder if they were also rooting for Bane when they watched TDKR.

I am familiar with Chuck's political position, but not familiar with Graham's views.

Trump is gonna do irreversible damage to planet Earth with his climate denying policies. He also threatened to end NATO, destabilizing the current world order. If you still support Trump in spite of that I have less of an opinion of you. **** them.

One of my best friends is a Trump supporter. The arguments i've had with this guy lol. Do i think less of him? Depends on what he's saying and what exactly he's defending. A lot of Trump supporters make me sick, but most people who defend Hilary like she's a saint give me the same reaction, so yeah. Lately i choose to ignore it the best i can, when they start talking politics. I choose to give everyone the benefit of the doubt until they start defending people in power and trying to shove it down my throat. Like, can we stop talking about politics please lol. I hate politics. All it does is divide people.

Do you guys think Affleck deserved the razzie nom? He was kinds monotone and boring. But it wasn't really enough of an affront to be worthy of a razzie.

I don't think Affleck deserved to be nominated. I am surprised that Gal wasn't on the list too, as the likes of Affleck, Will Smith, Irons and Margot Robbie (who beat Gal to an award recently) were nominated, and I thought they were all better. I thought she was bland and wooden in the movie. Maybe she wasn't in the movie long enough.

There's always next year. :o

Nah, he didn't deserve it. That's definitely a pile-on nomination, but it's not totally unsurprising considering he's the lead in the film that got the most nominations. While I still feel there are actors I'd rather see play Bruce Wayne/Batman than Affleck, he basically did about as good as he could've done with what he was given. I bought him as Bruce more than I expected to.

Smith, Irons and Robbie were shortlisted, but not nominated.

What do you guys think will be the best superhero movie of this year?

For me, nothing looks better than Logan. First of all, it looks like a movie. None of the awful color grading of the Marvel films or the pretentious gloominess of DC. The performances look top notch. The film seems to be earning its weight.

Next up is Thor 3. I know, we haven't seen any footage yet. But I have this sneaking feeling that Marvel wants to prove itself on its weakest link and Waititi is a clever dude. He is gonna come up with something surprising.

I am slightly concerned about GOTG 2. It looks like more of the same as the first one. It doesn't seem to be broaching untested waters. It may suffer from diminishing returns syndrome.

Homecoming looks fun. But that's about it. It doesn't seem to be doing anything special.

Wonder Woman looks great. But it's DC. With them you can never be too optimistic.

Justice League may end up being the worst of the year for obvious reasons.
