The Dark Knight Rises You Have My Permission To Lounge - Part 9

Early reactions are piling up. Looks like it's got a crappy villain (big surprise) and a thin plot, but the characters are heroic and they interact well, plus the action is decent.

That'll do for me. That's all one can ask for at this point. A good time at the theater seeing some genuine heroics.

It's lazy beyond belief.

So critics are saying some words on Twitter today about the movie. The consensus so far is that the CGI is kinda bad, bad villain, clunky and uneven but not a disaster. It's apparently fun and they get the characters right, and some of the humor works. So it's mixed.

I can already see the arguments that the good bits are thanks to Whedon, the bad parts are Snyder.

The whole movie has been disappointing from the get go, even the marketing never felt right.

We should be getting shots/promo like this:

And instead we are getting stuff like this:

To be fair, that set pic was when Snyder was still running the ship. After he left the color was dramatically ramped up.

It's still a pretty lame pose and setting for a group picture.

I feel for Ray Fisher in this. He's the least-known actor playing the least-known character, the only minority, his design is crap, and apparently he does nothing to impress in the film. Really sucks for him.

Yeah it sucks so hard, he gets to be in a huge film alongside his heroes and make all that money even though he's not the best actor of the bunch, at such a young age! Must really suck to be him!

I will say I had reservations about Cyborg. He is monotone as **** in the trailers and Fisher looks like he has no charisma.

Say what you what about Gadot's acting ability, but she oozes charisma.

Which is a shame after all this time, money, and effort... we got this as the first ever live action Justice League movie.

We'll always have Justice League/JLU.

Imagine if Dwayne McDuffie were still alive and spearheading this thing.

This. First ever JL film, and people are raving because its getting the type of critic response a mid-tier MCU flick would. Talk about lowered expectations.

I don't think Gal "oozes charisma", it just looks like that because she's next to blocks of wood like Henry, Ray and Ben. She did a fine job in Wonder Woman and lucky for everyone involved, her and Pine had good chemistry. But "that girl is charismatic!" Is not something I would think of.

She's the one person I'm counting on in Justice League to deliver a performance that isn't distracting though. I feel like Ezra could over-act, Fisher will likely be wooden, Affleck is the same as Fisher unless he has a few tricks up his sleeve like the odd scene in BvS (with Alfred), Irons is on auto-pilot for dat paycheck, same with Diane Lane, Henry is unpredictable for this due to us not knowing what he's doing or how much screentime, Amy is usually very bland in these movies as if she's too self aware so I'm expecting the same from her. Who else did I leave out?

Welp, WB worked hard to make sure this was an inoffensive film that doesn't upset anyone too much. Trying to stop the bleeding from BvS. Sounds like they got what they wanted.

I've never had high expectations for this movie, so it is what it is. Hopefully I'll be able to go along for the ride and not get too distracted thinking about all the behind the scenes drama and who directed what.

Just such a shame though that they shot their load on two mega-iconic things, Batman and Superman sharing the screen and the death of Superman, just so they could rush out this supposedly "ok" Justice League movie.

Oh well. I'm hoping to come out of this movie wanting to see Flash and Aquaman solo films.

Well, when you put it like that. :funny:

The action I've seen of the film has put me right off it. Nevermind the trailer prior to Dunkirk, I saw the Heroes trailer yesterday on a whim and I couldn't follow what was happening. Cyborg threw Aquaman, parademons fly in, Wonder Woman...I dunno, flashes in or something? I guess Flash ran by, then somehow Aquaman lands on top of the Batmobile when it's like a mile away from where he was going.

I pointed that out a couple of days ago in the Bruce Wayne/Batman thread, much to some posters annoyance. :funny:
