If you want, your number 1 pick doesn't have to be your favorite movie, if you really can't choose. In fact your whole list doesn't have to be in a specific order. But if somebody wants to get real specific then go for it.

Remember, this isn't about what you think is the better film, it's just favorites. So it doesn't matter what genre it is, how smart or dumb a person may think it is. It's all personal picks.

Nice list! i quickly wrote down a list just now, off the top of my head. I landed on 75 so i just gotta bring it down to 50 but not before i watch a few that i haven't seen in a long long time. Just to see if they still hold up.

Funny you put Pulp Fiction as your number 1 (im guessing it was just the first movie that popped into your brain?). But that may actually be my favorite movie. I've seen that more times than anything else.

Thanks! Haha, didn't mean to steal your thunder there with PF. There was a time when I considered it my favorite movie too...at least that's what I always landed on when asked. Like I said, these days it's really impossibly hard to decide on a no. 1 for me, but PF is definitely one of the most quotable movies of all time and it's certainly Taratino's masterpiece. I bought it on Blu-ray a while back but still haven't re-watched the movie in quite some time. I'm overdue.

Shauner. I hate you! lol, I wasn't going to do it, because it's so damn hard, but what can I say; I'm compelled. I jotted down a list of movies that I watch the most, have sentimental value and or just came to mind. I got well over fifty, but here goes nothing:

    1) Ghost World
    2) TDK Trilogy
    3) Star Wars Trilogy
    4) Toy Story Trilogy
    5) Godfather Trilogy
    6) Heat
    7) No Country For Old Men
    8) The Prestige
    9) Being John Malkovitch
    10) Dumb and Dumber
    11) Pulp Fiction
    12) Seven
    13) Zodiac
    14) Spider-Man 2
    15) The Royal Tenenbaums
    16) Rushmore
    17) American Psycho
    18) The Machinist
    19) Dick Tracy
    20) Training Day
    21) Do The Right Thing
    22) Malcolm X
    23) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990
    24) The Big Lebowski
    25) Inception
    26) Taxi Driver
    27) Memento
    28) Kill Bill Volume I and II
    29) Inglorious Basterds
    30) The Place Beyond The Pines
    31) Skyfall
    32) Lost In Translation
    33) Scarface
    34) Anchorman
    35) Cable Guy
    36) Fargo
    37) The Departed
    38) The Shawshank Redemption
    39) Edward Scissorhands
    40) High Fidelity
    41) Scream
    42) Blue Valentine
    43) Scrooged
    44) Ghostbusters I and II
    45) Forrest Gump
    46) The 40 Year Old Virgin
    47) Friday
    48) Reservoir Dogs
    49) Requiem For A Dream
    50) Beetlejuice

Yeah, I already feel bad because I left off quite a few that would probably make the list on any given day. Happy Shauner? :oldrazz:

Nice list Jack, decent amount of overlap between us.

Sorry bilbo...I respect the trilogy but I'm not the world's biggest LOTR fan. I find the movies a bit of a chore to sit through quite frankly. :ninja:

I like the LOTR trilogy. I respect it even more. But i dont love the mythology like a lot of others do. It's been a while though, i need to sit down and watch them all on blu-ray. Maybe ill grow to love them more once i do that. Ill probably try that out before the final Hobbit. But i agree BatLobster, it's a chore, and that kind of genre or whatever is not usually my bag. That's why it most likely won't make my personal top 50. But there's quite a few films coming out in the next few months that im really excited for, so i could always update my list at a later date. Maybe LOTR will be added at some point too.

Yeah, it's always subject to change. Heck, I saw Boyhood yesterday and I'm already wondering if it cracked my top 50.

Still haven't seen that one. I was supposed to about a month ago, but tickets ran out last minute so i ended up seeing Chef instead. Which was good!

I thought about adding The LOTR Trilogy, but I have only seen it once. I really enjoyed the first two, but found The Return Of The King a little too drawn out. Then again I bought the extended cut. Odd coming from a guy who still feels TDKR isn't long enough, lol.

I noticed a healthy overlap with our lists too, Batlobster.

Ive seen the LOTR trilogy once as well, so many years ago. Liked it but didn't love it, but im surrounded by friends who just adore that trilogy. I went to see the first Hobbit with them and while they raved about it i really didn't like it besides a couple of scenes. I saw Smaug and i thought it was great which has ignited something in me lately to re-watch the original trilogy. I saw them in the beginning of high school, on dvd. So now i want to see the extended cuts (never seen them!) on blu-ray and there's a chance ill love the hell out of em' all. We'll see. Im open-minded right now but i just remember being super bored throughout the third movie. In particular the legendary 16 endings of Return Of The King.

Funny JackWhite. I was thinking about that today (Rises not being long enough). That's my only real complaint about that movie, perhaps with 1 other minor nitpick that i have. That the editing felt rushed because they had to cut too much out for Imax. I will say this until my dying breath, i want to see a goddamn director's cut which would probably be an extra 20 minutes. Setting Rises at 3 hours. Even if it's 7 minutes it would be worth it. Especially with that audio option that i would friggin adore to pieces (the option to switch between Bane's original voice and altered).

thee extended version of rotk does 100% make it look seriously drawn out. when you just see the regular movie its a total 180. actually all of the films extended versions were drawn out. but yeah the non extended return of the king is in my top 10. if you ever get a chance i would rewatch it. but no extended versions!!! lol

Because of your namesake, I will take your word for it, Bilbo. :cwink:

Oh Shauner, I know how you feel. The fact that there probably is a longer version of TDKR somewhere in Nolan's vault and that we will most likely never see it, will continue to haunt me.

Maybe one day though, when we are old men. Then we can watch the film and be young men; together again.
