I don't know about the rest of these, but I'd love to see Shakira play Rima.

hey, if Audrey Hepburn could pull it off, so can Shakira ;)

Plus she's mostly got to speak in bird song, chirps and whistles. So not allot of acting range needed LOL!

If Warner Brothers and DC decided to do a spoof movie, this should be the team for that spoof movie. With Shaq showing up as Steel.

Gleek should be played rotating out Glee cast members and having no one commenting on it at all.

We ought to cast the original JLA in here just for kicks! Imagine if they made a SUPER FRIENDS film back in the late 60s, who should've starred?

Super Friends began 1973, so if they'ed made a Film back then as you say; there actually was a live action cast JLA/SUPER FRIENDS "movie" of sorts -
- Legends of the Superheroes - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5d6BUq6rYI
So with a few later additions a 70s live action version of the Superfriends might have pretty much looked like this...

But if the rest of the Hanna Barbera created Heroes were cast for a movie at that time too -

1970's:

1. Black Vulcan: Richard Roundtree - - https://www.google.com/search?q=Ric...ved=0CAcQ_AUoAmoVChMIqtzeyLSfxwIVwoI-Ch2X7A9Z

4. El Dorado: Ricardo Montalbán - http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e5/Danny_Trejo_2.jpg (The guy was fit)

5. Rima - Raquel Tejada Urquizo Welch - https://www.google.com/search?q=raq...ih=968#q=raquel+welch+one+million+bc&tbm=isch

And thanks for posting the question, without doing a search for 70's casts I would have never realized Richard (freakin Shaft) Roundtree in Earthquake must have been the inspiration for Black Lightning/Black Vulcan

I'm seeing ALOT of non-white faces on that list of Z-list heroes. Bums me out a little.

On another note:
That being said, I would pay good money for a 70s Donnie and Marie Wondertwins movie!

What’s bumming you out?
That's the history of these characters, yeah they wore their ethnicity on their sleeve, like most exploitation era characters it was the most blatant part about them, they were kind of created off the cuff by HB to fill a void not covered by DC at the time. Who would you add/change?

Yeah they kind of missed the boat on that one. I have no doubt the Wonder Twins were inspired by the Ozmand duo.

How about The Wondertwins as adults. My picks are:

Jet Li--Zan
Lucy Lui--Jayna

Strangely enough I could actually picture this movie happening and actually being successful. The casting is brilliant!! haha

The idea is definitely meant tongue-in-cheek, although imagining if they were to do it for real. It's clear DC/WB (and probably the world) have distanced themselves from these cliché ridden characters.

There might be a love-hate thing, and an insane part of fandom that actually wants to see DC/WB own up to these characters, and have them succeed.

Activate!

WTF, are we... the new freakin Super Friends!?

What is odd is how DC comics proper has continually denied the existence of these characters.
While the DC Animated Universe, keeps acknowledging and referencing them bringing them back, first as the Ultimen in JLU, then as the Runaways in Young Justice.

Maybe because they first appeared in animation. that's where they'll continue to exist.

I don't know even with all the advancements in motion capture and CGI it's hard to imagine they could capture all the nuanced brilliance of this character performance.

-

I guess it would be to much to ask for them to spin this out of the Man of Steel franchise.:shock
A few subtle cameos and a minor movie name change, is not asking much -

That's really all it needs.

Oh yeah, fore better or worse these guys pretty much defined that trope.
On one hand they were an embarrassing cliche, on the other it was implied they were good enough to stand along side the JL. HB Animated had naively but honestly stepped up to fill a void DC refused to acknowledged. That's who we got, it was the 70s their ethnicity was like another one of their superpowers!

Now they just need their own movie.
Wheres the love!:hrt:

I recently had a conversation with a less-than-knowledgeable JL/JLA fan in a comic book shop who insisted that the JL movie's characters had to mirror the JL 'toon because, in his words, "that's who everyone grew up with".

I responded, "By that logic, shouldn't older fans insist that JL resemble the Super Friends?"

That would be straight to DVD so fast there would be skid marks on the box cover.

Lol, he would have lost his mind if the Detroit era, or the Giffen/DeMatteis era had cartoons.:funny:
But yeah whether its through the comics or cartoons they saw first (whatever era), people tend to glom on to that version as the "correct" version, because they grew up with it.
The one he "grew up with" might have just as easily looked like this.

That's true, and the inclination is even worse with 'toon-only/show-only fans. Comic fans can be stubborn too, but at least we concede that long-running characters and groups can vary from era to era.

Oh man, I forgot about the test footage from JLA. It's an extra on one of the DVDs, and I viewed it with horror.

You should show him the Filmation era JL too, which by his logic "everyone" once grew up with so that's the "real" one:oldrazz:

Although Hawkman with a claw (about a decade before wolverine) was badass!

But yeah comic fans too can be sticklers for the supposed "correct" representation.

This whole thread is more to showcase everyones absolute most "incorrect" representation.:D
