Young Avengers #12 First Look
A second Kree/Skrull War erupts.
by Richard George

June 7, 2006 -
Young Avengers #12
32 full color pages
Written by: Allan Heinberg
Art by: Jim Cheung
Release Date: June 28, 2006
Price: $2.99

Because of the heritage of one of the Young Avengers, a second Kree-Skrull War threatens to engulf Earth. Not even the combined forces of the Young Avengers and the New Avengers may be enough to stem the tide of destruction in Young Avengers #12.

This interstellar conflict ends here as one of the Young Avengers must sacrifice his or her future to end the escalating war, while another member lies wounded on the precipice of death.

Can all of the Young Avengers survive the past come back to haunt them? And if they do, will their relationship with their mentors the New Avengers survive as well? One thing is for sure and that is the team dynamic will be forever changed by issue's end.

Young Avengers #12 is filled to the brim with so much action that the normal 32 pages couldn't hold it all. The conclusion to Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung's Young Avengers first season has 8 extra pages at no extra cost.

Don't miss the conclusion of "Family Matters" in the pages of Young Avengers #12 and look for the Young Avengers this summer as they find themselves in the middle of another war. The conclusion of issue #12 sets up the status quo of the Young Avengers for this summer's blockbuster crossover Civil War where they meet another group of popular teen heroes for the first time, the Runaways.

Be sure to pick up Young Avengers #12 and be on the lookout for the teen heroes this summer in the pages of Civil War: Young Avengers and Runaways.

Guess i'll be the guy who post this stuff from IGN then?
Love the YA/NA image.

Great images. I am SO going to miss Heinberg & Cheung during the haitus.

Sounds good. Saves me the headache of visiting IGN's comics section at all. ;)

The preview looks great. It seems Patriot's going to make it out just fine after all, given that he's got no less than the Sentry flying him to some kind of medical care as fast as possible.

Lots of nice action.I don't see how this will wrap up in one issue.

Looks like with a lot of punching. ;)

Besides, if a Kree/Skrull War ignites in space, earth-heroes may not be able to effect it for a while, especially with them all busy with CIVIL WAR.

Is there an offical "Offical Young Avergers thread"? is not, can someone please make one?

Its around, I don't feel like digging it up, though. Try the SEARCH option.

why is spidey in his old costume?

1). Because Heinberg wrote this story and Cheung started drawing it before his "Iron Spidey" suit became so widespread (and before CIVIL WAR or the preludes started). Yes, YA is running months behind schedule. It was supposed to be a monthly, after all.

2). Because his original is better.

3). Because he hadn't spent the money Thing paid him to switch back to his original duds in THING #6 yet. ;)

lol!

Well we all know Patriot won't die due to Civil War YA/Runaways previews.

Looks like Sentry takes Patriot aways...

Well Sentry can apparently heal people(in his mini at least). Maybe he patches Patriot up.

We haven't seen the mini yet. It is very likely that he actually DOES get some kind of Cap-transfusion now, but we haven't read the issue yet. Unless somehow, in healing Patriot, Sentry "somehow" makes him a super-soldier. I don't know. He's obviously bullet-resistant in CW #2's preview art.

I'm curious as to what costume/codename Thomas takes, considering that most GOOD speedster names are taken, and the rest stink.

I think he should be called 'Speedster'.

That's so bland and generic. I hope they come up with a better name for him. I have no idea what it could be, but there've gotta be better speed-related names out there.

The costume's bulletproof. Patriot takes two in the chest in YA #1 or 2, I believe. Remember, when he hops on the hood of that car and the dude shoots him?

I guess it might've. He didn't seem hurt at all by the bullets, though. Given that his MGH doses pretty much mirrored the effects of the Super-Soldier Serum, he should've definitely been hurt by the bullets. Captain America would get hurt by bullets just as much as anyone; that's why he carries the shield and wears chainmail.

Oh, I thought MGH has different effects on different people. I remember in Runaways somebody used MGH to duplicate Cloaks powers.

Yeah, it does. My point was that for Patriot, the MGH seemed to duplicate the Super-Soldier Serum's effects, enough so that when he explained to Cap that was the source of his powers, Cap didn't question it--and really, who'd be a better authority on the effects of the Super-Soldier Serum than Cap?

true.

A Cap blood transfusion would be great

A grandaddy blood transfusion would be even better. Josiah and Isaiah seemed even stronger than Cap, actually. Maybe because it was a more raw, unrefined form of the SSS.
