She must have really enjoyed it.

*reads article*

Oh, wait, by a bear. That's a shame. :csad:

That's really super sad but I probably would have been fighting for my life and not calling on the phone.

Your not gonna beat a bear and she tried running away. Best to call your mom and say goodbye.

Poke the eyes out while they are eating you.

Well... So much for me sleeping tonight.

Seriously, that's about as horrifying as gets, for all parties involved. To be a parent, listening on the phone as your daughter is being slowly killed, and you can't do anything about it... Jesus H. :csad:

I can't even imagine. Just reading the article made me feel so bad.

This is just horrid & painful even to read. Incredibly sad.

When I read it, my initial reaction was laughter, and I said "Jesus Christ" out loud, because it's so ridiculously terrifying, I didn't know how else to respond. I had a total human reaction to it. When I saw 127 Hours, I had a similar feeling. I mean, it's NOT funny at all, and I KNOW it's insanely horrific, but just reading this story made my body laugh from shock. It was like a defense mechanism. Crazy, crazy, stuff.

I remember this Russian dude got half his face bitten off by a bear.

Looked like somebody bit into an apple.

Yuck.

Damn, the article is almost too amazing to believe. Crazyness.

What's absolutely crazy about those Russians is that some of them actually seek out a fight with a full grown bear.

What happened to this woman was utterly terrible, and a complete tragedy. You can't take self-defense classes at the local YMCA for an opponent such as a Tiger, Lion or Bear. It's up to them if they want to finish you off, or not.

And her first instinct was to call her mother as opposed to some authorities that could take it down?

That poor girl. I can't even believe she was able to stay conscious through that.

For once in my life, I'm speechless. I'm literally speechless.

And her first instinct was to call her mother as opposed to some authorities that could take it down?

She probably feared that they wouldn't take her seriously. Her own mother thought she was joking around at first.

This thread is going to turn into a "why didn't she do this instead of this".

yay for predictability!

As a parent, I can't even imagine the horror the mother must have felt. I read this story a couple of days ago and I couldn't get it out of my head. Even in a world where bad luck stories are printed every day, this still shook me. My prayers go out to the mother.

This is why (and I mean this seriously), I don't go into the woods or enjoy nature. There are too many animals which would love to harm/kill/eat a person.
