So I went looking for these threads, but because of the great migration, the search function isn't really working. so I thought I'd start a new one that combined the two. The idea is simple. Make a list of your 10 favorite film for any given actress or actor. You can do this as many times as you like.

I will start with my favorite on her birthday.

My 10 Favorite Keira Knightley Movies

    1. Pride & Prejudice
    [IMG]

    2. Begin Again
    [IMG]

    3. Colette
    [IMG]

    4. The Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy
    [IMG]

    5. Bend it Like Beckham
    [IMG]

    6. Love Actually
    [IMG]

    7. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World
    [IMG]

    8. The Imitation Game
    [IMG]

    9. Official Secrets
    [IMG]

    10. Laggies

Honorable Mentions: Never Let Me Go, A Dangerous Method and Atonement are all really good films. Much better then Laggies really. And Keira is fantastic in them. But they are also all varying degrees of depressing as hell and thus don’t make my 10 favorite list. Would be on my top 10 best though.

    Keira is pretty awesome.

Favourite actor/actress is tough because it comes and goes - if you'd have asked me in 1999 it would have been Nicolas Cage, no question. But 20+ years later and he's had a few ups and downs ( putting it very mildly).

Tell you what, how about a real legendary 80s movie star ? Harrison Ford , probably not my all time favourite but definitely in my top 10 - next time around I'll do Julia Roberts or Gary Oldman.

    1. Raiders of the Lost Ark ( the other ones just aren't as good)

    2. Star Wars trilogy

    3. Blade Runner, only the first one.

    4. Witness

    5. Patriot Games

    6. The Fugitive

7 the Mosquito Coast, most underrated Ford film ever !

    8 Force 10 from Navarone.

    9. Air Force One

    10. Hmmm..... kind of tie between Presumed Innocent and Clear and Present Danger.

I don't think any of my favorite actors have 10 movies that I love. In rare instances there's more than 5, but 10? Probably only Arnold Schwarzenegger.

    1. Conan the Barbarian

    2. The Terminator

    3. Total Recall

    4. Terminator 2: Judgment Day

    5. Commando

    6. True Lies

    7. Predator

    8. Kindergarten Cop

    9. Twins

    10. Red Heat

I'll start off with a legend we just lost, given that I've just been going through a lot of his movies on the Criterion Channel.

My Top 10 Favorite Max von Sydow Movies:

    1.) The Seventh Seal

2.) Three Days of the Condor
    [IMG]

    3.) The Exorcist
    [IMG]

    4.) The Magician
    [IMG]

    5.) Minority Report
    mvs2-446392442b2f.gif

    6.) Shame
    [IMG]

    7.) Shutter Island
    mvsshutterisland.gif

    8.) Strange Brew
    [IMG]

    9.) Pelle the Conqueror
    mvspellegif.gif

    10.) Dune (yeah, that's right!)

    mvsdune.gif

Honorable Mentions: Wild Strawberries (fantastic film, but his role's so insignificant I forget he's even in it, lol), The Virgin Spring (another great film, but I generally don't care for rape revenge flicks), Hour of the Wolf (brilliant, but a rough watch). There are still plenty I need to catch up on.

I love seeing Bend it Like Beckham get some love @DarthSkywalker. I have no idea how many times my dad made me watch that movie with him when I was younger. Great film.

I'll have to think more about my favorite actresses, that usually changes with the mood. Picking an actor comes easy though: Tom Cruise. Ranking his films not so much though.

    1. Mission: Impossible series
    [IMG]
    2. Edge of Tomorrow
    [IMG]
    3. Jack Reacher
    [IMG]

    4. Top Gun

    6. Tropic Thunder
    [IMG]

    7. Collateral

    8.
    The Mummy (2017) it's a guilty pleasure
    [IMG]

    9. War of the Worlds
    [IMG]

    10. Risky Business

Honorable mentions would go to just about everything else because this was so hard to pick :funny:

The movie has the trappings of something very standard in terms of young adult material. But the performance and script elevate it imo. It also doesn't hurt that I am a big Manchester United fan and that I saw the movie for the first time in a hotel room while at Disneyland and instantly fell in love with a certain pirate king. :atp:

    A bit on FC's list:

    - I still remember seeing the Seventh Seal for the first time and realizing the preist from the Exoist was in it. Such a great film and Max is fantastic in it.

    - I have seen so many Tom Hardy movies, and yet I still have so many too see. Like Warrior, Locke and Legend.

    - Oh and the list just emphasizes just how different every Tom Hardy role is. Also outside of some awkward green screen, it feels a real shame that Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy has kind of been forgotten. Because it's so good.

    - I almost forgot Marion was in The Very Long Engagement. It wasn't Amelie, but I thought it was a worthwhile follow up from the director.

    - Also a lot like my girl Keira, Marion has a lot of really enjoyable deep cuts.

See, I much preferred it over Amelie. I never got the Audrey Tautou hype, tbh. She's likable, but a boring presence to me. Marion single-handedly brought A Very Long Engagement to life with her limited screentime, imo. I always considered Tautou the Julia Roberts to Marion's Cate Blanchett. :funny:

When I was a little one, I watched a lot of Tom Cruise movies, as he was my grandmother's #1 crush. It must have stuck, because even with all the strangness of his association with a certain cult, his output this last decade has been my favorite of his career. I remember thinking for a few years I was the only one who got how awesome Jack Reacher was, but that was clearly a mistake. Throw in Edge of Tomorrow, the last 3 Mission Impossibles, and Knight and Day (it loses itself in the final act a bit but it is really fun imo. Also an early Gal Gadot appearance) and he had an all time decade imo. So good, that I even half expect the Top Gun sequel to be awesome.

As a man, who crushes Audrey Tautou rather hard (my DVD collection was embarrassing), I cannot be objective here. I mean I watched an entire mad cap romantic comedy in french without subtitles just because she was in it. But I definitely see the Cate Blanchett comparison with Marion. It is a very good one imo.

I had seen pretty much his entire filmography growing up, but it really was this past decade that solidified him as my number one. He'll have a meh film every once in a while, but his output has been pretty consistent. Probably the only person in Hollywood I currently trust to entertain me every time I enter the theater.

Also, Knight and Day is underrated. The highway chase at the beginning is fun as hell. I would love to see Cruise and James Mangold work together again.

FC, your Bergman list brings back memories of a lot of weekends watching TCM marathons. There are a lot of movie stars, but Ingrid Bergman truly was a colossus of the silver screen.

Any gal who could intimidate a bully with clout like Hitchcock was obviously a force to be reckoned with. Based on what I've read, it seems like that's why they became such good friends - she wouldn't take his **** and treated him like a kid brother, lol.

Oh, man what a great list ! Totally agree with all of that but I would have included a Few Good Men
and Born on the 4th if July also , Interview with a Vampire, because Cruise is the only good thing about that film, and maybe Magnolia because his role is so.....out there. Would probably put Collateral first on the list for acting - because Cruise owns that movie.

Wow ! Love it, for me the first Ace Ventura film is the best Carrey, and I would add Batman Forever because he owned that film ( unlike Tommy Lee Jones).

Cannot dispute any Stewart movies, the guy was a total legend.

As for Cage I have a very serious question @Jettisoned .... why no Wild At Heart ?

Ugh, I'm not a big Tinker Tailor fan, but Tom Hardy exudes so much sexy cool in that role.
