I want this to be a thread to share why we favor the the film we do. It must be your favorite not which film you think is the best, because sometimes they aren't the one in the same. Not an argument or flame war as to which film is better, which films you think sucks, etc. Let's not throw stones now.

I wanna hear which classic Bat film (pre-Begins) is everyone's favorite and why. Just give us a paragraph as to why you feel the way you do about the film. Perhaps it's the story, the actors, the setting, a memory that goes along with it, anything of the sort.

Batman.

Keaton is a beast.

Batman Returns.

Keaton, DeVito, Pfeiffer, and Chris Walken. All of them were terrific. I love how gothic Gotham City looks. I love the snow effect at Xmas time. I love Elfman's music in it, especially Catwoman's theme. I love how all of the villains represent an angle to Bruce Wayne/Batman's persona.

We need a poll.

MB, make a poll.

1. Batman Forever
2. Batman

4. Batman Returns (that I actually do not even consider a "Batman" movie)

All Three Classic Films In This Order :

Batman Returns
Batman
Batman Forever

Too bad there was never a sequel to batman forever..

I wish there was. I don't count B&R. Seeing the Riddler return or perhaps Two-Face would have been nice. Maybe even Catwoman would come back. Freeze and Ivy do not translate well to film. They just aren't very believable, especially when not done right. But a Scarecrow in a true sequel to Batman Forever, where the Scarecrow messes with Bruce's mind even more so bringing back the guilt of his parents death would have been interesting.

Obviously my favorite film is Batman Forever. It may not be the best film but there's something about it. The actors, the look and feel, the story, the acting, the characters, the soundtrack, the score, the way it's just all put together just clicks with me. I once watched it 4 times in one night. :)

Batman 89, BR and BF without doubt for me

Truthfully neither Batman Returns nor Batman Forever were really direct sequels either. Both were pretty extremely different in theme and narrative than the movie that preceded them.

In fact, that's always been my one big disappointment with Batman Returns. Great movie that it is, I love B89 so much that it's always kind of saddened me that Batman Returns wasn't a more fitting sequel to it.

I really do like them all in their own right, so I'll just explain with a brief summary on all of them:

-Batman the Movie(Adam West): I LOVE this movie so much, it truley brings back memories. I even saw this in a re-release in theaters when I was about 5-6 years old, before Batman89 came out. Adam West was the reason why I love Batman so much, and I think this movie is a classic for any Bat-fan.

-Batman89: I was 7 when this came out, and my sweet Mother took me to go see this movie about 8-9 times. I remember seeing the billboards everywhere, and the 20-20 specials leading up to this, and I knew that this wasn't the regular campy Batman. I was in love!

-Batman Returns: A lot of people hate this movie, but I truley love it. I saw this in theaters about 3-4 times, and I was blown away the first time I saw it. Most people I knew weren't that into it, but I just loved how dark it was. It may just be my favorite Bat-flick, but that's still debatable.

-Batman Forever: It was different, and it felt that way too. From the action, to the way Gotham was lit up, it was just a whole different Batman all-together. Now, I know that Two-Face isn't portrayed properly, and The Riddler is more like the 60's version, but damn it, I really enjoy this movie. It's fun, but not to campy, for me to like it. Different? Sure. Fun? YES!

-Batman and Robin: I remember walking out the theater thinking how dumb that movie really was, yet, I also remember buying the VHS the first day it came out. I was disappointed in this movie, but it is fun to watch, in the same way that Robocop2 is fun to watch. I don't put it in to much, but when I do, I make sure I have friends who know how to laugh, and plenty of beer and pizza. It's a funny movie, get over it.

I always viewed Forever as sort of the middle film in a different trilogy. It would have worked well.

The first film being focused on Bruce and Harvey's friendship and Harvey's demons even before becoming two-face and ultimately leading to him being scarred.

Forever would pick up two years after Two-Face was captured in the original. A 'prequel' could have also touched on Edward's admiration going from normal to stalker-scary. The sequel to Forever could have been either the Riddler escaping again or Two-Face coming back somehow perhaps returning to get revenge on Bruce.

BatmanForNever, you should add a poll.

:up::up::up::up::up::up::up:

and there was a movie called batman and robin? :hehe: Jk haha

seriously, i see what you mean, was BF campy? sure, but other than BR, it was the darkest one of all [the originals] : a bat**** (no pun intended) stalker for bruce wayne

and i agree. everything was great in this movie, except one thing, did goldenthal use elfman's theme? no, but so what, his theme was epic too.

that one thing that i cant stand in this movie is the ninja-laundry scene.

I heard FSM is gonna be releasing some sort of special edition (of box set?) score from a major film...could we be getting expanded batman originals? i hope so, alot of great material was left off of batman forever's score album, which had a crappy album name (original motion picture score album? really?), but great music on it, so it's like whatever! sorry for my rant :brucebat:

I hear you on everything man. I didn't mind Elfman's theme missing, it sort of separated them better. I thought Goldernthal did an excellent job with the score it was Batman yet had a sort of crime 1940's flare to it. The whole film is timeless, in a sort of alternate reality in which computers co-exist with care models from the 40s and 50s.

I just got the score for my birthday after wanting it for some odd years now. I've had the soundtrack since it was released in 95, and still to this ay remains my favorite soundtrack.

agreed 95%, but i have to say i cant decide which of the original batman scores are my favorite, there just too damn good! unfortunately, my BF score CD got one too many listens, had too toss it. :csad::csad: the soundtrack is great, i think maybe on par with spider-man 2's (yes, i liked that one) gotta get a new score cd. and i think, goldenthal's score for B&R is what saved my copy, AKA the complete aborration from getting tossed into the fireplace and to hear goldenthal's music is the ONLY reason i watch the hunk of ****. and of course, much like SM3, the score is unreleased. most of it is from the BF score, but i love that part of the score when IVY arrives and it has the...i'll up it on youtube and post a link..better than explaining it.

my favorite pre-begins movie is still mask of the phantasm which i was lucky enough to see in theaters.

other than that i like Batman, Returns, and Forever in the order they came out. I REALLY, REALLY want a Forever Directors cut though. It would make a movie i like even better.

I forgot about MotP. I think I got to see that in theaters as well. I was only four, but I remember skipping around the movie house and walking into the theater that had the Batman poster next to it.

So I think haha.

Batman 1989 is my favorite. No contest.

It's difficult to say why I like this one the best. There's just so much to like: Keaton, Nicholson, Elfman's music, the style, the quotable/awesome one-liners, etc.

Batman 1989 was also a HUGE part of my childhood. As a product of the 80's, I can easily say that I consider this to be a definitive movie of that time period.
