The other the side of the coin to another recent thread what is your favorite ending shot to a film?

Mine is Fight Club. Its nuts, the movie finally loops back in on itself, you've had time to reflect on the whole reveal and you finally see that the whole thing was born out of "Jack's" subconsciously wanting to be with Marla. Finally despite everything that happenned they are truly together.. as they stand and watch a terrorist plot carried out. The music is also perfect especially the way the explosions match the drum beats, that and I just love the Pixies.

Also, I love this shot because I think this movie was made in bascially the only time it possibly could have been. I really don't think it would be made today, and if it did it'd be so neutered it wouldn't even be worth watching. This scene especially simply wouldn't fly.

I have a ton, but to list one... Spider-Man 2.

This was the only film of the three I enjoy, and I still don't think it's an amazing film, but that final shot is simple, and unbelievably effective. Spidey swings away and you get your standard Elfman heroic cue, but it then cuts to a close-up of Mary Jane with a slightly worried look on her face. It was the perfect way to end that film. Too bad Spider-Man 3 didn't deliver.

A lot. I would say TDK's ending left me begging for the next one, and I liked it in a mechanical way kinda the Cowboy/Knight riding off into the sunset.

But one of my favorites is The Two Towers, though it ended differently then the book, I loved the music and final shot of Mordor, and Mount Doom. And you can see Barad Dur with the Eye of Sauron looking about. I just love that final shot, I remember how much I could not wait to see Mordor from the inside.

Many others come to mind as well:

-Inception
-The Godfather
-2001
-Psycho
- The Thing
-Alien

I know there is many I'm missing but there are a lot I like.

1. The Searchers:

For horror fans Sweeney Todd and An American Werewolf in London had amazingly great tragic final shots, but they're too bloody for me to post here. The closing shot of Halloween is also superb and creepy, as well.

Gangs of New York:

That is enough for now.

Batman Begins

BTW If we're doing Batman final shots, while TDK is king, nothing has topped this shot:

One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest - Such a powerful image, this huge guy running towards his freedom. Tearjerking.

Aguirre: Der Zorn Gottes - One madmen still left standing, waiting for his death like the rest. Great camerawork.

The Bad Lieutenant - Port of Call: New Orleans - Such a strange image, a bizarre ending for a bizarre film.

The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three - The funniest facial expression I have ever seen.

Last American Virgin:

On Her Majesty's Secret Service:
