For the sake of keeping things simple, let's focus on 2014 to 2018. However, should you be ambitious and decide to go beyond that, knock yourself out.

I'll kick off.

2014: The Babadook (runner up: It Follows)
2015: We Are Still Here (runner up: Bone Tomahawk)
2016: The Witch (runner up: The Wailing)
2017: Get Out (runner up: IT)
2018: Hereditary (runner up: Annihilation)

This year's been off to one hell of a start with Annihilation, A Quiet Place, and Hereditary. If The Nun, Halloween, and Suspiria live up to expectations, this could be a banner year for the genre.

Yeah it’s sorta a horror comedy take on Friday the 13th or slasher films in general. Worth the watch for sure IMO very good fun film, with some heart to it as well.

Watched 'Ghost Stories' last night on Blu-ray and will add that to my 2018 list, great horror film, even though twist a little ruined by production values.

I didn't think Annihilation was very good. I wanted to like it way more than I actually did. The aesthetics were great but it was obvious from the beginning that it would be an acid trip Body Snatchers.

Maybe I should watch it again but I wasn't impressed coming off Ex Machina, which was subtly provocative.
