Its that time of the year agian... So whats your favorite horror and why?

Psycho...cause everything else was inspired by it.

books on ed gein...cause psycho was loosely based on him... ;)

but my favourites are probably, psycho, notld, daw of the dead, friday the 13th (series), nightmare on elm street, and the texas chainsaw massacre... i could go on forever though with my favourite horror movies.

When I was a kid it was all about the Friday the 13th series. If any of the movies were on I was watching them.

As an adult I love Zombie movies, which is weird because as a kid they terrorfied me and even now to some extent I get the creeps being outside at night in complete darkness. I love movies like SAW where people are put into extreme situations and have to fight there way out or die. I am and always will be into the slasher series like Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I haven't seen many horror movies because the genre doesn't really appeal to me but Hitchcock did some great stuff and I love the original Nosferatu and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. The Sixth Sense is good too.

A Nightmare On Elm Street.
You know how, when watching a horror film, you find yourself wondering how the hell these people get killed? It should be pretty easy to evade Jason or Michael. Jaws? THEY TELL YOU NOT TO GO NEAR THE FREAKIN' WATER! Poltergeist or Amityville? How many hints do you need to get out of the damn house? And if Chucky kills you you pretty mch deserve it. Then there's Freddy.
There's no running away from him. No calling the cops or beating him up. The only way to defeat him is to convinve yourself he's not there, which may prove difficult while he's carving up your intestines. This is true horror. Original. Inspired. Granted the sequels turned it into comedy but the concept is great.

Catwoman....

When i was a kid Elm street ****ed me up bad i was about 6 or somthing, might explain the way i am today....

Oh, yeah-and the best kill scene in horror movie history. Johnny Depp. I loved that scene. In goes the TV. In goes the stereo. In go the blankets, sheets & bedspread. And out comes more blood than even the coroner can bear to look at.

I love the build up to Tinas death, and then is just relentless after that. When nancy found Glens headphones with blood all over them in freddy's lair was so creepy.

Shining is great. :cmad:
Yes. I usually say "with the exception of Ghostbusters and the Shining", but I was too lazy.
Thanks a lot.

No prob. I partly agree though. The original Ringu and Ju-on were very atmospheric ghost movies, personnally. And the first half of Hong Kong's original The eye was very intense. So were some bits from The 6 sense.

The problem, personnally, is the lack of talent. Since Ringu (and to a certain degree ju-on) there has been so many darn ghost copycats movies that I got sick 5 years ago. Now, if the asian people weren't killing the genre enough by themself, stupid hollywood is remaking all of those asian ghost movies, AND making sequels to them (sequel to remakes of ripoff, good lord). Enough to make anyone sick of the genre.

There can still be good ghost movies, but it would take one hell of a filmmaker to bring back something to this dying genre.

I've seen hundreds of horror movies, so it's kind of hard to single out one, but I'll go with the original Dawn of the Dead. I personally can't find a thing wrong with it. Absolutely love it.

Zombies with blue and green clown make up
only thing wrong with it

The Shining is an incredible movie. Easily the best horror movie ever.

Cabinett of Dr. Caligari, It's the original true horror, and still the best!

I'm a fan of all kinds of horror movies, but the one which truly sticks with me is Halloween.

Psycho, The Haunting, I Walked With a Zombie, Cat People, Dawn of the Dead.
