Superman and Batman have a history of fighting and portrayed as not liking each other. DC tried to have a wholesome image to protect themselves from the attacks on comic books in the '40s and '50s so Batman and Superman were portrayed as wholesome polite civil friends. By 1958, after the attacks on comic books died down, DC allowed some conflict between the characters, realizing that is more entertaining, thus sells more than a wholesome polite civil friendship.
I loath the collars and everything about the new costumes in this unneeded reboot. Superman, Aquaman and Green Lantern all wearing matching collars looks ridiculous and makes them look less like individual characters and more like they are following a fashion trend, which is totally out of character. How is Clark Kent suppose to hide that big collar under his ordinary clothes? None of them were in need of costume changes. I definitely prefer the timeless classic iconic costumes recognized around the world:
I hear you guys about the stupid collar... I will never like the new comic suit. New movie suit is much better... but yeah, you can't go wrong with classic either.
