Does Assault on Precinct 13 ( John Carpenter) count? I recently saw it for the first time and just fell in LOVE with it. The tension, the action, the characters, THAT SCORE. That was a pleasant surprise.

A few of my favorite Thrillers:

The Ipcress File (1965)
The Conversation (1974)
Blow Out (1981)
Blood Simple (1984)
Manhunter (1986)
House of Games (1987)

I saw Dressed to Kill (De Palma) for the first time earlier this year and it was phenomenal. I still giggle in disbelief at the ending.

Blow Out is great too. I also just saw De Palma's documentary and it made me want to seek out Body Double.

Don't Breathe was a pretty fun thriller this year. It's in my top five of the year right now but that's probably due to a lack of competition. Still, very entertaining. It features one of the most horrifying... "weapons" I've seen in a movie.
