It's the time of year where films that we don't watch the other 11½ months of the year find their way into our DVD/Blu Ray players. So post your favourite Christmas movies in here and a bit about why you like them or what they mean to you if you wish. :)

I'll start! :D

This is the Christmas movie of my childhood and every time I see it I get the warm fuzzies. Sure it's really dated but the 'origin' of Santa is still awesome and John Lithgow is a tonne of fun as evil toy baron B.Z. :woot:

I know many probably prefer the older version but I love this one, it's a fun story and Richard Attenborough gives my favourite portrayal of Santa.

Charles Dickens 'A Christmas Carol' is a true classic and I have enjoyed many interpretations but this may be my favourite. Billy Murray is absolutely hilarious in the lead role and relocating the classic story to the 80's just makes it all the more fun.

Home Alone 1 & 2

Especially 2 - the "You've been smoochin' with everybody!" scene is a family favorite bit.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

"We're gonna have the hap-hap-happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap danced with Danny ****ing Kaye!" - 'Nuff said.

Die Hard

Maybe the greatest X-Mas movie ever. Certainly the best action movie ever. "Ho Ho Ho Now I have a machine gun"

Every Christmas me and the family always sit down and watch a Christmas Story.

However seeing I'm a horror Fan I always get one watch of Gremlins down every year.

1. Die Hard
2. Lethal Weapon
3. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
4. The Long Kiss Goodnight
5. Die Hard 2
6. Jingle All the Way

A Christmas Story!

Also Muppet Christmas Carol :o

Christmas Vacation
Home Alone
Scrooged
Gremlins

I got the cartoons on DVD and I always watch them every year.

Charlie Brown Christmas
Garfield Christmas
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Frosty the Snowman
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Original Simpsons Christmas
Nightmare Before Christmas

For me, nothing will ever beat It's a Wonderful Life. And I love watching Batman Returns this time of the year too.

It's a Wonderful Life
Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
A Christmas Story

A Christmas Carol

My favorite version stars George C Scott as Ebeneezer Scrooge. For you Cheers fans out there, Scrooge's nephew Fred is played by the actor who played Robin Colcord on that show.

Scrooged

Bill Murrey was totally on top of his game with this one. A great modernization of the Charles Dickins classic.

Mickey's Christmas Carol

You just gotta love seeing Mickey as Bob Cratchet and Goofy as the ghost of Jacob Marley. A great adaptation, watered down for the younger kids, but still very enjoyable by adults.

A Miracle On 34th Street

I prefer the original version over the remake. The newer one just doesn't have as much heart. Also, you just can't beat that scene where all the court bailiffs haul all the letters to Santa and dump them on the judge's desk.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

If I owned my own house, I'd totally go all Griswald on it every Christmas. Even so, I at least go all Griswald on my apartment patio every year. So many great scenes, like the big squirrel chase. Or the deflating overcooked turkey. And the kidnapping. And who can forget the original voice of Betty Boop as Aunt Bethany.

Gremlins

Don't have this one in my DVD collection yet, but whenever it's on TV at Christmas time I watch it.

Home Alone 1 & 2

A whole lot of fun for the whole family. I think I like the first one better than the second, but as sequels go #2 is really ver good.

Jingle All The Way

You gotta love the big fight scene with all the Santas. And everything Ahnuld does to try and get the toy for his son. And the whole Turbo Man bit near the end was pretty cool too. And Phil Hartman was probably at his funniest in this picture, with all his obvious attempts at seducing Ahnuld's wife.

The Trailer Park Boys Xmas Special

Beneath all the swearing, scheming, drinking, smoking dope, etc, this is actually a very touching story about friendship, family, and the true spirit of Christmas.

Good God it's late. I'll ad some more tomorrow.

I used to feel that Penguin was the most twisted and dark Santa Claus's version.

This isn't really a movie, but I try and watch it every Xmas.

WWE Tribute To The Troops

I don't like George W Bush. I don't agree with the war in Iraq or the politics behind it. But you gotta respect Vince McMahon and the WWE Superstars for going into a war zone to bring a little taste of home to the troops stationed in Iraq.
