Wow. That is a bad sign. The next trailer has to deliver to get more people interested. This film has to deliver. I am trying to remain anticipated for this, but all the negativity is bringing the hype down. The hype would have been extremely high if this was released way before the MCU. :csad:

People clapped and cheered when it played during my SW showing.

Were people laughing at the "I thought she was with you!" line? I'd expect the general audience to chuckle at that.

The general audience just wants to be entertained by a movie. If the film delivers plenty of great action and characters that they like, they'll enjoy it and give it good word of mouth.

BvS will have to be a truly horrible film to not do tremendous box office given that we're getting Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman together on the same screen for the first time. After that, the momentum is still very strong for superhero films. So as long as there is good action and likable/relatable characters the DCEU should do roughly as well as the MCU.

The trailer ended with a joke that you were supposed to laugh at. For all we know, the audience was responding to that. Don't read too much into it until you get further context.

I think people shouldn't forget what happened to Superman Returns. That was well over 20+ years of Superman being gone from the screen, and it was being helmed by the director who just gave us X-Men 2. It had all the makings for a gargantuan blockbuster, but the underwhelming summer product combined with a great one (in POTC2) got a cinematic icon utterly trampled.

We shouldn't overestimate the fast moving pace of the market. If a product doesn't deliver, the audiences have no trouble finding the next available outlet. The powerhouse brands can only help amplify its success if it's great, but it won't stop it from being brushed over if something comes along soon after that's deemed better.

Technically the trailer ended with a money shot. I really don't think the small quip Batman made was so hilarious that it'll make people laugh as long as it takes to get to the end.

The money shot is five seconds or so long, and it comes right after Batman's line. If the laughter lasted longer than five seconds (and it conceivably could've), then it technically made it through to the end.

If BvS is as lackluster as Superman Returns then I think you're right. I have faith from everything I have seen that it will not be. But we've all been burned with that expectations game before. So it's by no means out of the realm of possibility that BvS could falter or even flop.

I think there's a real possibility that BvS could end up being deeply polarizing, as MoS and Watchmen were. I'm actually slightly worried that in order to avoid that WB could over-correct by trying to make the film more like a Marvel film. But it looks like they're all-in with Snyder for this thing and willing to take a gamble that he'll deliver an awesome film. (I would imagine also that they have a plan B if BvS fails: be more like Marvel!)

Unless you heard a collective "boo" from the audience they were not laughing at the trailer but the humor in the trailer.

Plus most folks on twitter are saying that their BvS trailer before Star Wars was met with high praise, with most reporting that Wonder Woman's arrival and trinity was met with cheers and applause.

Right? How could that not elicit a cheer from audiences that have come to watch an adventure epic like TFA?

Exactly, trolls are trolls who have nothing better to do but to **** on this film prior to its release, that trailer was highly enjoyed by a lot of people and they'll enjoy the film too, i highly guarantee it.

That's not the case everywhere. At my 1st screening, neither the BvS nor Civil War trailers elicited a positive response from the audience. Only one that did was Zootopia.

Was it simply no noticeable reaction compared with Zootopia? Hard to imagine both BvS and CW eliciting snickers or guffaws especially from an audience pumped up to watch TFA.

Yeah good comedy trailers like zootopia would most likely get a couple of chuckles and laughs from the audience as compared to more darker trailers like BvS or Civil War.

However I do have a hard time believing that an entire theatre packed up to watch the Force Awakens at the AMC Burbank in L.A. simply 'laughed' at the BvS trailer out of mockery or disgust, now that for me is information that's hard to digest, in fact the only laughing i believed happened during Vincanws viewing of the BvS trailer was during the humor between Batman and Superman about Wonder Woman's arrival and not as a sign of complaint of the trailer.

Plus Wonder Woman received a surprisingly high amount of praise and cheers during my showing of the trailer, a refreshing sight to see as compared to all the backlash Gal received when she was cast lol.

Nah, they definitely weren't into them. There was snickering/groaning going on throughout BvS (though not as bad as the OTT laughter for the Gods of Egypt and Warcraft trailers), and Civil War was our last trailer in a loooong line of trailers, so that just had people shouting "Star Wars!" and "Get to the movie already!"

SW fans are not always synonymous with CBM fans.

Yup, saw both the B v S and CW trailers when I saw SWTFA today.

CW didn't do much for me, but wow B v S looks awesome on the big screen.

CW looks like a very personal fight, but B v S looks EPIC. The shot of the Trinity together on the screen, just looks amazing.

Can't wait for B v S, but honestly, based on the trailer I'll wait for CW on DVD.

Cavill has massive presence on the big screen in the Super-suit, and GG looks great as WW, even Batfleck doesn't look half bad.

Hell, Doomsday looks scary on the big screen. All in all, I'm even more pumped for the movie now.

Anyone see the German BvS promo floating on the internet? That part with Superman's super speed was sweet! I wish they included that or more footage showing off his powers. Also there's another cool shot of Batman and I see Batman in that shot not Ben Affleck. Hopefully we get another trailer (international) showing new footage.

don't think you are heavily biased? ;)
btw, never a fan of SW. when they are so advance and can easily kill hundreds in a second, why do they still use a light sabre to fight and wasting the time?
every time i see them fight for minutes... "wasn't it too stupid???"

As someone who loathed the trailer, on a positive note it seemed to have resonated fairly well with my crowd for TFA. It was mostly an indifferent (read: silent) reaction up until the point when WW appeared and the Trinity were presented in all its glory.

No huge applause or cheers, but I most definitely heard certain portions of the crowd peak in excitement at those two sequences.

Because the trailer is aimed at audiences not connected to the Batman V Superman mythos. It was a commercial trailer for the masses.

It's the fanboys that are upset, the normal viewer who will give most of the cash seems to love it

I love the German language, even though I only understand 5% of it.

Batman: "Superman! Ich bin eine kleine wienerschnitzel!"

    Superman: "Hah, kartoffel knödel!"

    And then they fight.

They didn't show the trailer at my showing of Star Wars. So annoying.
