This is in celebration of Black History Month which is the month of February.

I'll start:

1. Ororo Munroe aka Storm - appears a lot (and maintains it) in comics, films, video games, etc and is one of the most recognizable members of the X-Men. I'm lovin' the mohawk too.

2. Blade -I put him on second place because I think people who knows Black Panther knows Blade but people who knows Blade might now know who BP is. And he's got 3 movies.

3. War Machine - showed up in an Iron Man film, a few issues on an X-men book and when people think of Iron Man, they would prolly remember War Machine

4. Black Panther - has the longest ongoing solo among the black comic characters in Marvel. also has a cartoon series of his own

5. Bishop - was once a popular member of the x-men. little exposure this time

6. Luke Cage - a very popular member of The Avengers

7. Falcon - member of the Avengers

8. Monica Rambeau - was once known as Captain Marvel. She is currently called Photon, member of Avengers

9. Synch - member of the Generation X

10. Shuri - younger sister of Black Panther and Black Panther and his sister has been exposed to the x-men fans because of the BP/Storm short union

Don't know about the order but that pretty sums it up, don't know synch but i do know Misty Knight.

Hmm... I typically don't care one way or the other about the characters' race. But if I had to just pick black people here would be my top 10. I'll spoiler it to make it fun... and be warned... I don't typically go for the frontrunner type of characters. Most of these likely wouldn't make other people's lists.

1)

th

Synch - My favorite character for several years period! I loved him in Generation X and to this day wish he'd make a come back!

2)

luke-cage-7.jpg

Luke Cage - I kinda liked the first few issues of his 90s series but lost interest and never looked back. Then along came Bendis and he made me just love the character! I hate not reading him monthly and am really hoping Bendis gets some Heroes for Hire going. I needs me some Luke Cage!

3)
250px-Bishop.png

Bishop - I loved Bishop and HATE what they've done to his character. The image above is from the Bishop: The Last X-Man series which is, to this day, one of my favorite ongoing titles.

4)

bloodshed3.jpg

Bloodshed - Yeah, I know. "Who the heck is Bloodshed?!" He was the villain in the very first comicbook I ever bought... Web of Spider-Man 81. He went on to star in a Spider-Man Unlimited backstory and disappeared for years before returning in the post-Civil War Heroes for Hire as a background thug. His story was actually pretty cool and his introduction issue was great. He might be a run of the mill thug but he'll always have a special place in my heart as the first villain I ever read about.

5)

maggott14.jpg

Maggott - I don't care what anybody says... Maggott was a fantastic character! I loved his year on the team and was excited when he was shipped off to Generation X. Sadly, he only stayed one issue and when next we saw him, he was doomed to die. Fortunately, his death was at least something unique and interesting, not just an explosion or bullet. He was gassed in a mutant concentration camp in Weapon X 5 (which is where the above image is from).

6)

th

Emplate - The main villain of Generation X. I've always had a soft spot for the guy and loved it when he came back a few years ago in X-Men Legacy. His story is interesting, though it got hokey at times, and his ties to Monet St. Croix helps his importance a bit. He's definately villainous but also tragic in a way, as all good villains should be.

7)

1212534-prodigy_01_super.jpg

Prodigy - The best of his generation. He lost his power during M-Day but stayed previlent until after Kyle and Yost left New X-Men. Since then he's become the background smart guy and I'm ready for him to make a jump into the spotlight again.

8)

th

Tag - Unlike Prodigy, Tag didn't make out of Kyle and Yost's New X-Men run... having lost his powers and then gone kablooey on a bus. That said, Tag was likable in that he was the "other guy" to Hellion and the rest of Hellion's team. He just wanted to fit in, and he managed that.

9)

inkosi-shola_0.jpg

Shola Inkosi - Shola started as a mysterious but powerful telekinetic in the Mekanix mini staring Kitty Pryde. He then became one of Xavier and Magneto's students in Excalibur, but was then depowered on M-Day. He returned once more in the Son of M mini and hasn't been seen since. He was a great character with an interesting story. I just wish he could have kept going.

10)

anarchiste-l_0.jpg

The Anarchist - Ah... that odd ball title, X-Statix. The Anarchist was the only character to make it from the beginning of Milligan's X-Force through the end of X-Statix. He was confrontational, explortative, and even a little noble. There was just something about this character that I loved, and my affection for him has increased in time. I'd like to see him back someday.

How can it be my top ten most popular? Popularity is an objective quality.

Honorable Mention:

bedlam-x-force_0.jpg

Bedlam, formerly of X-Force. That last spot was nearly a tie between him and the Anarchist but ultimately I liked the Anarchist more. Bedlam was cool though, and he got cooler after Counter X. And then he got crucified.

I liked Prodigy from the X-Men. I wish thy didn't push him out of the series.

COOL!!I AM GAME!!

1) Luke Cage-Just the baddest cat ever baby!!

2) Black Panther- a brother with his own county and a harem!! Thats cool!

3)Falcon- if he's good enough for Cap he 's good enough for me!

4)War Machine- His name is War... Machine....! thats cool!

5)Blue Marvel - listen he's Marvel's Black Superman! him and the watcher
pal around! that's cool!

6)Misty Knight- Tough Afro rockin babe with bionics that's cool!

7)Bishop- well he was the 1st brother Xman! i still dont know exactly what he does though!

8)The Prowler- yeah! again a brother has to be named after a criminal, but Spidey confides in him. so thats cool!

Black Panther
Blade (movie version)
Storm
Luke Cage
Brother Voodoo
War Machine
Ultimate Nick Fury
Triathlon
Nighthawk (Supreme Power)
Captain Marvel II

1. Luke Cage
2. Black Panther
3. Blade (movie and Ultimate version that goes after Edgar)
4. Samuel L. Jackson
5. War Machine
6. Patriot
7. Triathalon
8. the Falcon
9. Misty Knight
10. Night Thrasher

The past couple of years haven't been too kind for Storm.

I'm confused. Is this our top 10 favorites, or who we perceive to be the most popular to comic book fans and the general public?

Dang, forgot about Night Thrasher. Also, forgot Cardiac. Both of which would likely make my list, knocking Shola and Anarchist off.

Outside of Bishop, has there been any other black, male X-Men?
not x-force or any side teams...
X-Men proper

I can't think of any, and it seems strange for the most diverse of the marvel teams to have only ever had one
(and sorry, I liked Maggott too, but I don't think he really counts as an official X-Man)

Maggott was an X-Man for over a year worth of books. There isn't any reason why he shouldn't count. Is Sunspot black? Because he's been on fringe X-Men books like X-Treme X-Men. He was considered an X-Man with everyone else and their brother during Utopia, his fraction of the X-Men being the New Mutants clan.

No, Sunspot's brazilian, I believe

And yeah, Maggot was there for a year, but I always looked at him, cecilia reyes, and Marrow as basically probational x-men. If the school had been open at the time, he would've been a student.... hence why he was soon booted to Gen-X

Plus his skin was literally black-blue, making him more mutant in appearance than "black", so I'm not countin it
I mean, can Nightcrawler be called a white guy just because he's german? he's not white, he's blue

Maggott was only blue when his strength was activated. He was black most of the time. And I'd still call Nightcrawler a white guy.

And while I disagree about Cecelia and Maggott, Marrow was a fulfledged X-Men for several years, from Operation Zero Tolerance through The Twelve. There's no denying her.

I'm thinking of redesigning the avengers as an all black team my list

War machine, Photon, Black panther (sister), Falcon and Cage.
(my vision is a bit diff then usual) but any comments on the choice of characters would be cool. :yay:

1. Night Thrasher I and II
2. Black Panther
3. Rage
4. Deathlok
5. War Machine
6. Mach V (heh kinda weird)
7. Prowler
8. Patriot
9. Falcon
10. Battle Star

Honorable mentions go to:

Never even heard of Cardiac.

Darwin is half black, half latino, and he's been an official X-Man. And I know you didn't mention women, but Frenzy was also a recent addition. Oh, and Cloak and Dagger joined briefly, too.

Prodigy, too. Pretty much all of the surviving active students became X-Men once they stopped being a school.

Sunspot's a black Brazilian.
