This was between NCFOM and Departed for me but I went with the former.

King's Speech was my favorite of these. Departed and NCFOM were also great. Argo and Crash were the weakest.

Or you know, the academy as a group thought that there were 5 movies better than The Dark Knight that year.

Crazier things have happened.

pretty sure an oscars rep at the time said that tdk wasn't even considered because of its source material.

Was 2OO7 a really slow year with a movie that just really stood out?

My ranking

12 Years a Slave
No Country for Old Men
The Departed
Hurt Locker
The Artist
Argo
The King's Speech
Million Dollar Baby
Slumdog Millionaire
Crash

No Country for Old Men easily, though The Hurt Locker is a insanely underrated film, even though it won the Oscar. The Departed might not be in Scorsese's Top 10 films, still fantastic.

Million Dollar Baby and Crash winning Best Picture are some of the biggest Oscar crimes.

2007 brought us these films:

Eastern Promises
Michael Clayton
No Country for Old Men
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
There Will Be Blood
Zodiac

Great ****ing year.

None of these to be honest. I found each and every single one boring.

I wonder if no one voted for the artist because no one voted for the artist.

I doubt anyone has even seen it... I haven't..

It's okay. A feel-good nostalgia film.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Take Shelter were my favorite movies of 2011 and they are ten times the films that The Artist is.

Drive came out in 2011. So did Hugo, Ghost Protocol, Tinker, and Dragon Tattoo. The Artist was ok, but not that good.
