Does anyone else enjoy and/or miss this show? Discuss the show as you like.
Genkai was one of my favorites, just a crazy old woman. An excellent show. I like to think of it as DBZ with far superior characters and story.
Also the dub was possibly the best dub ever created.
My favorite character was Younger Toguro. I know Sensui get s alot of hype but I just liked Toguro more.
same hereI need to watch everything after the Dark Tournament
It was okay. Didn't like how it tried to mirror DBZ so hard during the last arc.
Actually that isn't true with most shonens. Most shonens actually don't get to planet busting energy levels of fighting power and don't have recorded power levels and power level readers. YYH used all of these points. Between Rurouni Kenshin, Naruto, Yugioh, Death Note, One Piece, etc. which of these shonen do you mean? If you mean Bleach, the creator himself admitted it's heavily influenced by DBZ and even got Akira Toriyama to recommend his manga to SJ when they rejected it for it's similarities to YYH.
same here
Lol I can name tons of Shonen's that have a form of recorded power levels its a concept that is not unique to Dragonball. 666 satan uses it,
Naruto uses it, Bleach uses it.
Also towards the end of must Shonen's power levels get exxagerated (this is in refrence to your statement about planet busting energy levels) just look at Naruto at present the power levels have been raised to epic heights.
Never watched it. So I can't argue, but I do know it came out well after DB and DBZ finished it's run.
Neither of these do that. No scouters. No readings. They just specifically go by what they feel around them, but they don't record it in numbers.
Naruto is only at village busting levels, and even now, it's not a feat casually performed, and only few characters can even do it. Even then, it doesn't make those like Deidara considered the strongest ninja, because Naruto is about more than who can blow stuff up the best.
The author of DBZ stated he is heavily inspired by DBZ, and even got it's creator to write him a reccomendation to have his manga published in SJ magazine, but I still would say Bleach, at least, is trying to stay unique to itself.
However, YYH gradually turned into just that type of shonen where planetary destruction became easily doable by most characters, as stated, and directly mirrored DBZ with their power level recordings with numbers during the last tournament arc.
