Zack Snyder Directing Justice League - Part 1

i think saying 'zack's still gonna make his movie,' is ignoring the news. if someone doesn't understand what's going on with all these changes at warner bros and dc films, then that someone just wants to make the same rants about snyder. he's not gonna be able to secretly make his own movie just to thumb his nose at wb and hypsters.

from a recent thr article:

"Roven remains on set for Justice League: Part 1, currently shooting in London, although Warners now has sent Berg to also oversee the day-to-day production of that movie. "

that last sentence closes the discussion on zack snyder somehow getting into the editing suite and releasing 'his' justice league in 2017. it's a studio picture, end of story.

WB showed arrogance with that no gap between BvS premiere and JL filming and now they'll pay for that. This will only result in being over-schedule and over-budget. Plus it's not so hard to imagine they'll have to go through weeks of reshoots next spring/summer.

Honestly after MoS they were so dumb in giving Snyder BvS and JL. Give him MoS2 or Superman/Wonder Woman crossover or something like that. No. No. No.

Justice League obviously is not going to be a straight Snyder affair. He obviously lost the right to make his own film but I still wish Snyder wasn't involved at all. It's still a bitter pill to swallow that he will direct Justice League even with his power diminished.

To be honest, this is what fanboys wanted for years. For WB to be more proactive with their DC properties, and less reactive.

If they waited to see how BVS went before launching JL, they would continue their trend of being reactive.

WB's biggest sin is that they waited this long to really embrace their DC properties. Now they are in a lose/lose scenario no matter what they put out.

I agree. They had two 'sunnier' projects before (McG's FlyBy and Miller's JL Mortal), if they made those movies it wouldn't allow Marvel to gain so much momentum. Now they're in this circle and as someone who didn't enjoy MoS and BvS I honestly think only Suicide Squad and The Batman will fulfil their expectations (fans reactions, reviews, box office).

I agree. Snyder+10 producers/execs around him saying what they should or shouldn't do... Damn, I don't think JL will be any better than BvS.

I feel like Snyder was originally slated for MoS2. Then somewhere down the line someone suggested adding other superheroes too. First Batman... then Wonder Woman... then "... wouldn't it be awesome to see Supes and Bats fight?" This all eventually snowballed into this weird pre JLA-flick.

It mutated so horribly. How are they going to rectify these story decisions without going so over-the-top with their explanations? Plus, they have to tell a decent story PLUS tell audiences what's in store in the next few films. Lots of maneuvering that not many professionals can easily navigate successfully.

Honestly, if I was part of this cast... I would be nervous about this project right about now.

It was Snyder who brought up the idea of Batman by throwing out the suggestion that MoS2 could end with kryptonite to Wayne Manor. Once he had planted the idea of Batman the creative team was all "let's have Batman in as the antagonist" and it went from there.

JL story line, costumes sets, production locations, and everything were fixed months and months ago. The reporting changes will barely affect the finished movie at all, it's done. Final editing and dialogue changes are about all that can be changed now.

Why? All the actors did a great job, and the set up for JL is on point. You have Batman and WW off on a search for the other JL members (seven samurai style), a Superman resurrection (probably at a key point in the movie when needed), and whatever antagonist they need to drive the conflict (hoping for Throne of Atlantis as the base plot).

.

You're wrong Jaxon.

Snyder wanted the kryptonite at the end of the first Man of steel.

Which everyone else hated.

...and he was a driving force in Batman being in the sequel.

The next best thing to having him fired is him being on a very short leash. One way or another he's in a no-win situation. If the film is bad he will cop the backlash, if it's good Affleck will get the credit for it being a success. I can only imagine he is humiliated at being in this situation. Why he's even bothering to stick around at this point is beyond me.

Having Batman in BvS wasn't a bad idea. Having Batman and Lex Luthor being bigger characters than Superman was a bad idea.

BvS was a Lex Luthor story not a Batman one.

That sure is their version.

Let's not pretend to be mind readers.

you can't really assume McG's superman wouldve turned out good and Miller's cast was pretty crap IMO and that flick was being rushed into production to beat out avengers.

I actually liked MOS a ton and its hard to even fathom how Thor 2 has a better RT score than it which is why i throw that RT score out the window.

Well, Charlie's Angels were fun summer movies and with young Cavil, ScarJo, Downey, Shia... I think FlyBy would have been a fun movie similar to Birthright. Also OC's Schwartz was rewriting the script to give it more romance and humour. Miller's JL - honestly I didn't fall in love with Cavill, Eisenberg and Gadot's role was too small to actually rate her. If we had Cotrona, Baruchel and Gale instead it would make no difference in my eyes. And I don't think it was rushed to beat The Avengers - they wanted to start filming in 2008, four years before TA premiere.

Miller's cast and concept was crap only way I would have got interested in that movie was if Miller had got Bale as Batman and Routh as Superman in it.

Armie Hammer as Batman and DJ Cotrona as Superman was just not looking good.

Directing a movie versed scripting are very different things. Snyder is a fantastic director, what he did with the MoS script was incredible. With Terrio having full script control and Snyder bringing that to life this movie will rock all our balls off.

Jaxon my lad, I'm fairly convinced if Zack Snyder came round your house, ate your pets and shot your parents, you'd still think he was the greatest guy in the world. He'd probably make a poorly constructed film about it, and you'd spend hours arguing online that it was a masterpiece.
