Seriously, how has this not happened yet? Just look at Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead. Proof that a zombie apocalypse has a ridiculous amount of story potential. A long-lasting series on the subject would be a piece of cake.

Alternatively, I'd settle for an adaptation of Max Brook's World War Z as a Discovery-style series of "documentaries". It's not ideal, but it'd be awesome all the same.

It's time will come, ya know when they won't **** it up.

Where the **** is that Lifeless series !? I know a few episodes were made and they were still looking for a network. What's the hold up!? :cmad:

Wasn't there supposed to be a zombie series on ABC called Babylon Fields, and it was so bad they decided to can it before they even showed the first episode?

It was going to be on CBS, and yes, the word is that it was terrible. It was supposed to be a combination of horror, drama, and comedy, but I guess it didn't mesh well enough for the series to work.

I'm pretty sure a World War Z film is in development, as well. I could have sworn I heard something about that.

From the "Worlds of JMS" website

Straczynski adapted the novel World War Z as a big-budget film for Paramount and Brad Pitt's Plan B Productions. Straczynski's first draft of the script was met with very positive reaction. The latest draft was turned in mid-August 2007, and it has been sent out to directors, to whom the studio is currently making offers. They are still searching for an A-list director.

As for no zombie tv series, it's kinda hard to do when the cast constantly eats the brains of the crew :cwink:

I wouldnt mind a comedic zombie series like Shaun of the Dead...

I actually watched the pilot for that, and yeah, it was f***in terrible. Plus they weren't even proper zombies. They were just people who came back from the dead, but they were still pretty much themselves. They looked like rotten corpses, but they talked and behaved like they never died. There wasn't a single bite or brain-eating to be found.

So yeah. Not a proper zombie series.

It is, but personally I think it'd work best as a "documentary". You definitely get that feel when you read the book.

Hence why I'd settle for a mini-series of Discovery-like documentaries, one episode per chapter. It's actually the best possible way to adapt the book. There's too much awesomeness there to be left out.

But I know not to expect the best from Hollywood.

Y'know, with the popularity of The Office and various other "mockumentary" clones popping up, if the movie is a success, this may not be that wild of a dream.
