God Eater 2: Rage Burst Feels Like A More Focused Game . September 6, 2016 . 12:00pm

God Eater 2: Rage Burst takes advantage of its nature as a sequel to focus in on Fenrir’s elite Blood group and the characters you’ll interact with throughout the adventure.

33 comments Read >

With God Eater Resurrection, the updated version of God Eater Burst, 2050’s Earth was established. We learned that Aragami had come to Earth, nearly wiped out humanity, and the Fenrir Organization had recruited soldiers and armed them with God Arcs to fight them. While God Eater 2: Rage Burst has players’ hero or heroine attempting to save the world in a similar way, it is in many ways a far more focused adventure.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst takes place three years after God Eater Resurrection and stars a whole new group of God Eaters. Instead of the second generation, which we met previous and saw were capable of rather standard fighting, it focuses on a group of warriors with new, more intensive features. The members of Blood have an additional drive and innate ability that allows them to use Blood Arts. While they may not be as experienced as characters like Lindow and Soma, their Blood Power lets them utilize special powers known as Blood Arts and protects them from Invasive Aragami’s Pulsating abilities.

The Blood Arts replace God Eater Resurrection’s Predator Styles. While the previous game’s abilities gave you a set skill with specific bonuses and effects when using a devour option, the Blood Arts focus on advancing and upgrading specific abilities through repeated use. When you check your Loadout at a Terminal, you can investigate the Blood Arts you’ve earned so far. Meeting certain objectives lets you earn new skills and improve them.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst also gives us a chance to see God Eater Resurrection’s characters evolve. People like Soma, Lindow, Kota, Alisa, Erina, and Kanon all return. Like our members of Blood, they’re part of Cradle and search the world looking for possible Satellite home locations, fighting Aragami, and conducting research. While some characters are only referenced and don’t actually appear, like Sakuya, we see how each has stepped up and grown in the organization. We watch as they too develop the same Blood Art abilities as the founding members of Blood. It allows for more definition.

Though, the best and clearest example of God Eater 2: Rage Burst narrowing in a way God Eater Resurrection didn’t is its character episodes. These sub-stories look closer at characters who can join your party, occasionally changing their abilities in a fight, adding new Blood Arts, new Personal Abilities, and sometimes even new items. They always offer more information about the person in question, sometimes giving silly information about something like a favorite food, and occasionally letting you know secrets about people’s pasts. The first few, with Ciel, Emil, Erina, and Kota, appear after clearing the Rank 3 second story mission, with more following after regular story mission and rank mission updates. Of course, even more follow once you get into the Rage Burst expansion content.

With God Eater 2: Rage Burst, you’re getting the sort of action and adventure you expect from a God Eater game. It’s filled with Aragami to hunt, life-threatening threats to address, and characters to connect with. The difference is, this time you feel like you’re focusing in more on your characters’ abilities and personalities than you did in God Eater Resurrection. I felt like I was learning more about specific people and groups, rather than Fenrir, God Eaters, and Aragami as a whole. The sequel has the luxury of going deeper than the original, since we already have some familiarity with all parts, and takes full advantage of that with elements like Blood Arts and Character Episodes.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC.

God Eater console game announcement teased for TGS 2016, first God Eater Online details
Published 9 mins ago. 3 comments.

Look forward to a stage event on September 17.

GE-Online-Fami-Leak-Details_09-14-16.jpg

First details on the newly announced God Eater Online have come out of the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu. The magazine has an interview with general producer Yusuke Tomizawa, general director Hiroshi Yoshimura, producer Kensho Monden, and Asobimo director Hiroo Hasegawa.

Before getting into the smartphone game, the staff confirms that there is a God Eater console project in the works, but they can’t say anything about it yet. They add that they’ll be able to say something during a Tokyo Game Show 2016 stage event on September 17. Bandai Namco has a “New Game Presentation” scheduled for 15:30 that day. Find their full schedule here.

Now, here are the key points from the interview about God Eater Online:

 • The idea is that by making God Eater free to play and crossing it with an MMO, it will increase the chances of getting more people to play.
 • Asobimo has know-how in the field as they’re the studio behind Avabel Online.
 • The traditional slaying of Aragamis with God Arcs remains. If a powerful enemy appears on the field, you can put out a request for support to nearby players, and form a party on the spot to take it on.
 • You can break away from the enemy after using a step, and then use devour combos. Users who’ve played previous God Eaters games won’t feel out of place with this one.
 • The goal is to have about 100 people on a single field.
 • The concept of levels is there. You can assign your acquired skill points to each of your parameters. There are also many items you can use that affect a variety of actions.
 • The setting shares the same time axis with previous games. It’s not a parallel world.
 • One story mission takes about 10 minutes to play. You won’t be in the MMO spaces for long periods of times.
 • Story missions can be played single-player, but NPCs will also join in.
 • They’re aiming to implement all of the God Arcs and guns that appeared in the series so far.
Thanks, Hachima Kikou.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst’s New Content Takes Cues From God Eater Resurrection. September 16, 2016 . 12:00pm

God Eater 2: Rage Burst’s additional storyline follows the same sort of course as God Eater Resurrection’s.

14 comments Read >
The God Eater series place people in dire situations. We’re creating an avatar who’s doing his or her best to survive in a world that’s constantly close to the end, and it’s all due to the Aragami attempting to take out the rest of humanity. We’re doing our best to save the day, but the nature of such games means success could be bittersweet. Fortunately, God Eater 2: Rage Burst takes a cue from God Eater Resurrection. Yes, it offers more missions to enjoy, monsters to hunt, and equipment to make, but the real bonus is the opportunity to add an epilogue onto the story that parallels the previous installment.

Note: There will be spoilers for both God Eater 2 and God Eater 2: Rage Burst from here on out.

Thematically, God Eater 2 is very similar to God Eater. In each game, we have a superior that we trust who’s going to betray the organization in a quest for power. This involves using and abusing someone we’ve grown to know, love, and trust throughout the course of the game. In God Eater 2, our villain is Dr. Rachel Claudius, Blood’s founder, and Julius Visconti, her adopted son and Blood’s first member and leader. We work with both of them throughout the game. Rachel was involved in an accident at the hands of her sister, Leah, and was injected with the P73 Bias Factor to revive her.

Like God Eater Resurrection’s Johannes von Shicksal, Rachel developed a desire to devour the world as a result of her sudden Aragami tendencies. Like Johannes needed Shio’s Singularity to accomplish his goal, Rachel needs to use Julius to create another true Singularity that will devour the world. Thanks to Yuno, who also is a Singularity, our avatar is able to reach Julius, despite his transformed and monstrous state. Julius then sacrifices himself, just like Shio did, to contain the singularity in the Spiral Tree. He also gets rid of Rachel’s manufactured Black Rain and its plague in the process.

This means God Eater 2: Rage Burst’s expansion content kicks off in a place similar to the after-the-end Burst content in God Eater Resurrection. Our team is picking up the pieces after a distressing event. Even though world is no longer in danger of being devoured, it isn’t exactly safe either. In each game, we end up learning that someone we loved and thought we’d lost may not be entirely gone. Julius is in a situation similar to Lindow’s. We think he’s gone, but his consciousness and body are still trapped inside the tree.

There’s even a new character who helps in the the quest to find our missing teammate, all because of a special connection. In God Eater Resurrection, this new ally is Ren. He’s connected to Lindow by his God Arc, as he actually is a manifestation of the weapon. God Eater 2: Rage Burst introduces us to Livie Collete, a young woman who can adapt her Bias Factor to use other people’s God Arcs. When she uses Julius’, she has a vision of him. It’s because of this connection, which is similarly supernatural, that we find our new purpose.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst’s new final boss’ existence even feels like a God Eater Resurrection deja vu. In the previous game, some Nova fragments had escaped containment and been reborn as Arius Nova. Similarly, Rachel’s existence still remains in the Spiral Tree and is awoken when people attempt to enter it. She ends up turning into the World Closer, a being just as powerful as Arius Nova. It has the same world-destroying potential.

Even the conclusion of this new arc ends in the same hopeful way as God Eater Resurrection. Just like Lindow, Julius is saved. He returns to Blood, just as Lindow came back to the Fenrir Far East Branch and Cradle. In a world where we’re constantly saying goodbye to people, we get a chance to bring two of our familiar faces home. The stories end with us bringing back the people who originally helped teach us what we knew. It’s a whole “student surpasses the teacher” thing.

Which helps make God Eater 2: Rage Burst so satisfying. Yes, we’re basically following a plotline very similar to the one in God Eater Resurrection. We’re restoring the people who helped our avatars become who they are, finishing off the ultimate evil that could still have threatened the world, and getting closure. But, that doesn’t make it any less interesting. I think it’s reassuring to show that there’s still hope in such a scary situation and someone who seems long gone can still be saved.

God Eater 2: Rage Burst is now available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC.

Bandai Namco has begun development on a new God Eater project for console, the company announced during the God Eater

Online presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2016. The announcement was made by both Bandai Namco’s Japanese and American divisions.
Bandai

God Eater series producer Yusuke Tomizawa shared a short teaser trailer for the game, which is still without a title, platform, or release date. The text in the trailer reads, “It has been three days since I arrived at the Fenrir HQ area. Once proud Guardians of humanity, whose hope and prosperity have since gone. The fall of those called GOD starts now.”

While Tomizawa couldn’t say more, it should be noted that he was wearing a t-shirt with the number “3,” perhaps hinting the new title is “God Eater 3.”

Famitsu interviews Yusuke Tomizawa and Hiroshi Yoshimura.

GE-Interview_09-19-16.jpg

Famitsu interviewed God Eater series general producer Yusuke Tomizawa and general director Hiroshi Yoshimura, who shared a bit more information about the newly announced God Eater console project.

Get the interview below.
How was it to see everyone’s reaction to the trailer?
Yoshimura: “I’ve only seen the reaction of the crowd at the venue so far, but they were watching so intently, so that was a relief. The narration was meant to be a puzzle, but it seems like many people figured it out…”
I’ll be straightforward. With the three claws in the trailer and the number on Tomizawa’s t-shirt, can we assume this is God Eater 3?
Tomizawa: “Ah, that t-shirt was on backwards (laughs).”
So then… we can consider this “3”?
Tomizawa: “Whatever the next new title we pursue may be, we’ll be going straight for that. At least, it won’t be a console version of God Eater Online
Is the trailer running in real time?
Yoshimura: “I’d like you to you to guess based off the fact that it says, ‘Footage shown is under development.’ Of course, that doesn’t mean that the product looks just like that, it’s just the current state.”
Tomizawa: “We still haven’t specified the platform. We put together the things we have currently under development.”
From what we saw in the video, it seems like this is a story set in the future?
Yoshimura: “For now I’ll leave that part to your imagination. One thing I can say is that the trailer doesn’t have some sort of ‘it was all a dream’-type ending.”
What’s the current state of development?
Tomizawa: “In the project’s current phase, we’re solidifying the game’s direction. After that, we’ll go into the sort of stage where we decide how to apply things like technology and graphics.”

New tidbits from Weekly Famitsu.
GE3-Fami_10-10-17.jpg
The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu has an interview with God Eater IP general producer Yuusuke Tomizawa, general director Hiro Yoshimura, and God Eater 3producer Yuya Tomiyama on the newly announced God Eater 3.
Get the tidbits below.

 • First, they apologized for the three-year wait since the release of God Eater 2: Rage Burst.
 • After development of God Eater 2: Rage Burst wrapped up, they reconsidered what draws people to God Eater and what players are looking for. By looking at user feedback, they were faced with a situation where what users want is considerably different from the current God Eater.
 • In addition to looking at evolving the series, they explored market potential, including overseas expansion. Both God Eater 2: Rage Burst and God Eater: Resurrection were well-reviewed overseas.
 • They felt that God Eater 3 should return to the feeling first felt in God Eater—the good feeling of speedily fighting enemies.
 • God Eater 3 is set after the events of God Eater 2: Rage Burst.
 • The setting of God Eater 3 is the area around a Fenrir Headquarters. However, the Fenrir Headquarters that existed in God Eater 2: Rage Burst has already collapsed.
 • The world view from previous games has changed considerably, and the positions of the God Eaters have also changed.
 • Development is proceeding with console as the base. It is being developed on PC, and from there will be moved to console.
 • They’re evolving multiplayer to make it more enjoyable to play for the current era.
 • (In regards gameplay outside of four-person multiplayer) It’s possible.
 • The fields are being completely remade.
 • You can move around seamlessly on the field, and areas are the biggest they have ever been in a God Eater game. Fields feel more expansive than ever. There are many fields with differences in elevation, as well.
 • God Eater 3 will have enemies with different properties and abilities from Aragami, and these enemies will devour the player.
 • Devoured enemies will enter a strengthened state, leaving the player in a critical situation.
 • Up until now, the games were made up of “gods and mankind,” but this is vague in the protagonist of the game, who wore shackles on each of his hands. There’s a feeling of Gods devouring each other.
 • In addition to dual wielding God Arcs, new God Arcs different from previous systems will also appear.
 • Outside of that, the game will also incorporate new elements in order to face against formidable enemies.
 • The smartphone RPG God Eater: Resonant Ops is set between God Eater 2: Rage Burst and God Eater 3, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to understand God Eater 3 without playing it.
 • Development is currently 30 percent complete.
Thanks, Hachima Kikou.

? New Fields
Field graphics have significantly evolved from previous titles and offer an atmospheric sensation through the depth and expression of light, dust particles, and other details.
—A canyon field where the sun shines through the dust hanging over. The protruding rocks have been broken, and their insides have dissolved and are illuminating as if they are eroding. Human-made objects can be seen here and there.

God-Eater-3_10-18-17_007.jpg
—A ruined field covered in a grey emptiness, where crumbling buildings are lined up one after the other. A huge hole is visible in the slanted buildings, which emits an ominous light as if it was eaten into and inflamed. There is truly no feeling of human presence here.

God-Eater-3_10-18-17_009.jpg
? New Aragami
Aragami graphics and motions have significantly evolved from previous titles. Aragami will become an even greater threat that attack the player.
First details on the new Aragami, which was only shown as a silhouette in previous trailers, have been revealed. Its massive appearance will overwhelm the player.
God-Eater-3_10-18-17_010.jpg
The new Aragami will launch devour attacks against God Arc users. This God Arc user-devouring Aragami will change forms from quadrupedal traversal to bipedal traversal in order to launch even more brutal attacks. And it will not stop at simply damaging the devoured player.

When the new Aragami’s form changes, its attack motions will also change in a big way. It is crucial that the player fights with different strategies during both its quadrupedal traversal to bipedal traversal phases.

? New Actions
The God Arc possessed by the protagonist can transform into a two-handed weapon by connecting the handles. Whether the protagonist is in the Burst state or not, Oracle Cells will pour out from the bangle on his right arm.

With the God Arc in its gun form, it can fire a laser unseen in previous titles. This also marks the appearance of a new gun category.

Lively and exhilarating actions are well and alive in God Eater 3. Overpower Aragami with the shining trail of the protagonist’s slash attack.

? Plus Many Other New Aragami and Fields
In addition to everything shown above, a large number of previously unseen fields and new Aragami will appear. More information will be shared in the future.

Bandai Namco has released the English version of the second trailer for God Eater 3, as well as new information and screenshots.
Here are the details:
Bandai Namco Entertainment Southeast Asia Press Release
The Earth is not like humans once knew it: Misery and destruction are caused by the terrifying Aragami. These creatures can only be defeated by utilizing the God Arcs, biomechanical hybrid weapons developed by a company called Fenrir. The God Eaters – men who have been gifted or cursed with new versions of the God Arc weapons – are the only ones able to wield them.

Prior to God Eater 3, many regions have been turned into uninhabitable and hostile Ashlands by ash-like particles that deteriorate anything they touch. The few people that survived these cataclysmic events where forced to create underground bases that are called ports. Within the Ashlands, there are brand new fierce Ash Aragami such as Anubis and Ra that provide the ultimate challenge for the God Eaters.

However, not only the Aragami have changed: God Eater 3 will introduce Adaptive God Eaters (AGE), who are different to the God Eaters of the past. The AGE are even closer to Aragami which makes them stronger and deadlier in combat as well as more resistant to Ashlands.
One of those AGE is Hugo Pennywort, a God Eater from the port of Pennywort. The protagonist and Hugo grew up very close to each other and both became AGE at a very young age. Hugo is quick-witted and a man of action, which makes him a team leader. To the player however he is more like a brother.?

God Eater 3 will introduce new categories of God Arcs: The Biting edge that focusses on quick slashing and stabbing attacks with twin blades and the Ray Gun that will provide a very strong ranged attack if timed correctly.
In addition to these new categories, new battle systems will provide opportunities to increase the players power substantially. The Engage system will be activated when characters stay close to each other, while the accelerator trigger is a passive skill that has certain requirements like executing a perfect guard.
Bandai Namco Entertainment America Press Release

 • Ashlands and Ash Aragami – Many regions of the world, known as the Ashlands, have become uninhabitable, forcing humanity to live in underground shelters called Ports. Within the Ashlands are fierce new Ash Aragami such as Anubis and Ra, which provide the ultimate challenge for God Eaters.
 • Adaptive God Eaters – These new God Eaters are closer to Aragami than God Eaters in the past, making them stronger and deadlier in combat, while also resistant to the Ashlands deadly air. One of these new Adaptive God Eaters is Hugo Pennywort. Hugo is quick-witted and a man of action, making him a substantial leader. The protagonist and Hugo grew up together and consider each other brothers.
 • New God Arcs – The Biting Edge God Arc is a dual bladed weapon that focuses on quick slashes and stabbing attacks. The Ray Gun can provide an extremely strong ranged attack provided it is timed correctly. God Eater 3 also introduces the Engage System and Accelerator Trigger. PlayStation 4, PC
God Eater 3 details Ashlands outbreak, Ash Aragami, new God Arcs and systems
Published 2 days ago. 47 comments.
Biting Edge, Ray Gun, Accelerator Trigger, and Engage.

Bandai Namco has released new information and screenshots of God Eater 3 introducing the Ashlands outbreak story premise, new type Ash Aragami, and new God Arcs and systems.
Get the details below.
? The “Ash Region” Outbreak and the Collapse of the Fenrir Organization
In the near future, mysterious life forms called “Aragami,” which “devour” everything, devoured the majority of the world and led it to the brink of total collapse. The only hope to stand against that threat is a special military force known as “God Eaters,” who can use “God Arcs,” which are biomechanical hybrid weapons developed by biotechnology corporation Fenrir.

With the outbreak of the the unknown calamity that is the “Ashlands,” humanity fell into an unprecedented crisis.
The ash-like particles of the “Ashlands” drifting about the air continued to spread throughout the area immediately after its outbreak, deteriorating the structure and turning to ashes of anything they touched. The branches of Fenrir had no means of penetrating the “Ashlands,” and the leadership structure of Fenrir eventually collapsed.

The few that survived constructed underground bases that became widely known as “ports,” and produced soldiers known as “Adaptive God Eaters,” or “AGE” for short. Adaptive God Eaters have high resistance to the “Ashlands,” and continued to fight against the threat above the ground.

? New God Eaters: “AGE”
“Adaptive God Eaters,” otherwise known as “AGE.” These are new God Eaters produced following the outbreak of the Ashlands. Unlike previous God Eaters, they are tied to a slave-like contract, and are not given the freedom to do as they please.

Compared to God Eaters of the past, Adaptive God Eaters have a high resistance to the Ashlands, allowing them to go into those areas for an extended period of time. They have extremely high resonance and physical ability, and are said to be a closer in existence to Aragami.
While Adaptive God Eaters are given dangerous work such as going into the Ashlands, exploring, recovering materials, and defeating Aragami, their reward is extremely minimal.

God-Eater-3_2018_04-05-18_002.jpg

? New Character
Hugo Pennywort (voiced by Tomokazu Seki)

God-Eater-3_2018_04-05-18_003.jpg

An Adaptive God Eater that belongs to the port of “Pennywort” located in the Ashlands. He and the protagonist became Adaptive God Eaters at a very young age and grew up together. He has the ability to take action, is quick-witted, and is an essential leader among his comrades. An older brother-like character, he cares for his comrades, including the protagonist.

God-Eater-3_2018_04-05-18_004.jpg

? Port “Pennywort”

God-Eater-3_2018_04-05-18_006.jpg

Ports are home to a large number of Adaptive God Eaters. With a profit-first principle, its Adaptive God Eater loss rate is extremely high, as their dangerous main work consists of going into the Ashlands and defeating Aragami.

God-Eater-3_2018_04-05-18_007.jpg

God-Eater-3_2018_04-05-18_008.jpg

? Ashland Aragami, Otherwise Known as “Ash Aragami”

A new type of Aragami appeared with the outbreak of the Ashlands. Called by names such as the “Aragami of Calamity,” these Aragami are highly adaptive to the Ashlands. Unlike regular Aragami, they are believed to have a common configuration that is a counter adaptation factor contained in their core, which prevents from being devoured by the Ashlands. But that is still being researched.

God-Eater-3_2018_04-05-18_009.jpg

Ash Aragami: Devours and Bursts
Ash Aragami have unique devour abilities, stimulate their own Oracle Cells, and can cause a phenomenon similar to a God Eater’s “Burst.” Through this, Ash Aragami are able to rapidly increase its battle capabilities.
At the same time, they can dispossess a God Eater’s resonance ability, which makes the God Eater completely unable to receive support such as Link Aid and Link Burst.

Anubis

A wild, god-like Aragami, akin to a ferocious beast covered in shining armor. Its overpowers its attack targets with its heavyweight armor. Anubis, who possesses considerable strength even among the Ash Aragami, can Burst to transition from walking on four legs to walking on two legs and completely change its attack pattern.

God-Eater-3_2018_04-05-18_014.jpg
Ra

An Ash Aragami with a body that looks to fuse a bird’s head with a celestial globe and human. It carries fire balls in both hands and burns anyone who approaches it to ashes. It usually moves while floating along leisurely, but when it finds a target, it uses the boosters on its back to rush forward and swoop down on its enemy.
Ra’s devour ability changes the fire balls it carries in both hands into a devour form before throwing them at its target. When it enters the Burst state, all of its energy amplifies, it wears wings of fire, and it can fire even stronger flames.

? New God Arcs
Biting Edge
New, close-range type, dual-bladed God Arc parts. Its turnover rate is top class among all other close-range God Arcs, and by mode-changing into its mow-down form, its battle style also changes.

—Biting Edge (Dual Blade Form)
In its dual blade form, the Biting Edge can attack quickly to catch the enemy off guard with slash attacks and thrusts. Also, each God Arc part’s handles can be linked to transform into a dual-handed God Arc.

—Biting Edge (Mow-Down Blade Form)
While stamina does not recover when the Biting Edge is in the mow-down blade form, things such as strike attacks from swings and jumps have a more powerful turnover rate than the dual-blade form, and are more wide-ranging. Because of this, it is important to properly switch between forms depending on the battle situation.

Ray Gun
A God Arc with that can fire a “radiation shot,” whose power increases the longer it radiates. As the weapon specializes in concentrated fire on the enemy while changing your positioning, it is possible to move while shooting the radiation shot.

Once the “radiation shot” stops firing, its power resets, so it is necessary make sure of the Aragami’s openings and when to fire in order to master the weapon.

? New Systems
Accelerator Trigger
A powerful passive skill that significantly strengthens the player for a short period of time upon meeting certain action-based requirements. Since you can activate Accelerator Trigger any number of times by meeting those conditions, you can continue to activate it in order to continue fighting at an advantage.

—Example: Guardian

 • Requirement: Successfully perform a Just Guard
 • Effect: Increases close-range attack power for a fixed period of time
Engage
A new system that activates when teammates stay close to each other to grant various shared bonus effects. Your “Engage Percentage” will rise as you continue to fight within a certain range of your teammate, and you can activate Engage when this percentage reaches its maximum value.
The “Engage Effect,” which activates alongside the activation of an Engage, differs depending on the teammate, so it is extremely important to ascertain who you Engage with based on the battle situation.

During an Engage, teammates share an Accelerator Trigger’s bonus effect. Because of this, you can fight at even greater strength by each having each character repeatedly activating their Accelerator Trigger during the Engage period.

? Even More New Actions
There is even more action evolution that has yet to be introduced. Stay tuned for future updates!
