🏀 NBA: Let’s Get Hoop’d

Bucks waived Dame, and want to pay a lot for Myles Turner. i don't love it. i'm not sure Myles is worth that price, but they need another big with Lopez leaving.

Now he's back to Blazers.

Btw, the clippers looking scary....with CP3, Beal, Brook Lopez coming in.

But still I don't know if I could bet on them making noises in the West.
5 years ago, this line up could be lethal, but at the moment? I am not sure lol

At best they are CF bound and thats it

it's still only August but before we know it, this classic basketball related theme will start playing again on our TV screens:

To me, the Clippers seem like Phoenix Suns 2.0. Build a roster around a star player (Leonard) who shrinks away from leadership and who is almost never available. Then pair him with a second star (Harden) who has a reputation for being selfish and lazy. Then add two veterans (CP3 and Lopez) whose best days are a decade behind them. Finally, round out the roster with a one dimensional role player (Beal) who somehow convinced everyone that he is a top performer despite the fact that he’s lost at every team he has played for.
I find it hard to take that team serious.

For me, I am intrigued by whether the Lakers can pull things together enough to make one final run. I am skeptical, but I have more faith in them than the Clippers.

Otherwise, I am interested in seeing whether the Spurs are mature enough to challenge the Thunder. Because the Spurs are looking solid at least on paper, especially if Carter Bryant can develop.

For the Lakers, I think it's all about management. It's been "OK" for the last few years, but took a few steps back in recent years. WRT the Spurs, man, they look like they could be on the verge of something big. They seem to be maybe too stacked at PG and could use some real perimeter shooting, but they are gonna be really, really tough to defend. They're young, talented, and if they can stay healthy, they are gonna be a real force.

Whether they could do it or not...I think we can agree that this season will be the final season that LeBron will play for the Lakers, although beyond this season, we still have no idea whether he will retire or keep playing (if he wants to keep playing, then maybe a 3rd homecoming to Cleveland to close his career?)

I don't know about the Lakers' chances, considering they still have to go through the gauntlet of formidable teams in the West (it is so much easier and more open in the East), but I believe, with all the speculations, that this is the final chance for LeBron to win one more title with the Lakers.

I think the Lakers will keep Luka long term, while for LeBron...the Lakers seems making their intention clear by not offering him an extention beyond the upcoming season, which leads to me believing that the upcoming season will be the final season we're going to see LeBron in Lakers jersey.

I mean, they're saving the cap space for 2027 free agency (where Joker and Giannis could be available)...

So there's that...
Windy says it best... "LeBron James out, Luka Doncic in"

I think LeBron goes back to Cleveland next year. He got to play with his son, which was a big deal for him. I don't see him retiring. He's still playing at an all star level so why quit when you still have gas in the tank?

EDIT: Just looked at his stats last year and he basically averaged 25/8/8, over 50% from the field, and just over 3 of 8 (.376) from 3. That's a career year for just about any NBA player.
