🏈 NFL - Game On

Derrick Henry is a freaking beast. His "down" year with the Titans is on their O-line. You gotta watch this....

Not gonna be surprised if the Browns upset the Steelers today. That will set up a Steelers/Ravens matchup next week and the winner takes the division and the loser goes home.

That would be somewhat of a surprise to me.....not out of the realm, but maybe akin to the Panthers taking out the Seahawks. IIRC, they could clinch with a Bucs loss. Both Carolina and Seattle both have something to play for, but the Panthers are fighting to get in and the Hawks have clinched. Sure, they want the #1 seed, but I don't think it's the same.

EDIT: I didn't realize Metcalf was out for the Steelers. That evens things up a bit......

Called the Browns upset. Steelers just aren't the same without Metcalf. That's your Sunday night game next week.

If the Falcons somehow beat the Rams tomorrow night, I think the Panthers/Bucs will be a 1:00 game. The Falcons winning their last 2 games gives the division to the Panthers no matter what happens.

Falcons/Saints would be a 4:25 matchup.

Panther held their own today against Seattle, but costly penalties and turnovers doomed them. Offense just couldn't get going.

of course we win that game I hate my team
Raiders understood the assignment

The good news is that you'll probably get the guy you want anyway. The Giants weren't going to go QB anyway and the Raiders certainly will. Picking 2nd for you guys is really the same as picking first.

The only real downside is that you could have traded down and gotten another pick, but if you trade down more than a 2 or 3 spots, you may miss the chance to grab a generational player.

Just don't beat the Cowboys LOL You could drop from 2 to 5.

As a Panthers fan, tonight's Falcons win is kinda bittersweet. I don't want these Panthers playing at half throttle knowing that if they don't win, they can win the division with a Falcons win against the Saints.

I'd rather they win on Saturday and go into the playoffs with some momentum. Despite us losing to Seattle yesterday, I'd still prefer to play them over the Rams/49ers.

Speaking of the Seahawks/49ers, I hope San Fran wins that game. I want to see the Rams travel to Philly.

A potential scenario where the Panthers, Buccaneers, and Falcons all tying at 8-9 is such an NFC South situation. To think the Saints are only 6-10. Only one game out from really being part of the drama.
:lmao:

Deeply unserious division.

Sounds like Lamar Jackson is playing Sunday night. I just think with Rodgers without Metcalf, the Ravens should win that easily.

We could also be witnessing Aaron Rodgers final game.

Let me first say that our playcalling was atrocious today. A flea flicker in the rain on the opponents 30 yard line when you're offense finally got into a rhythm? Dave is just not a good playcaller and I hope he gives that away to Brad Idzik next year.

Secondly, I'm never one to blame officiating for a loss. There are missed calls every game and it just happens. But holy hell were there some egregious calls made in that game. Brad Allen should never be allowed to officiate again and if he's selected for the playoffs, it will be a travesty.

Go Falcons!

It's bittersweet. I want the Bucs to win but I want a new coach. Their weak division keeps saving Bowles' job. They'll never be anything more than a fringe playoff team with him.

Just heard that Ron Torbert is officiating the Saints/Falcons game and he favors road divisional opponents when they play. The Saints don't have their best WR and RB. Looks like it's all the making for an upset. Congrats to Tampa on winning the division.

I don't understand the Texans pulling starters. I get that you're not winning the division, but wouldn't you want to at least secure the 5 seed? We're talking about potentially playing the Steelers/Ravens or the Jaguars/Patriots. I would much rather play that AFC North winner.

Edit: Guess it didn't end up mattering since they won. Still weird to play it that close to the vest.

Congrats to the Panthers. I'm assuming that they'll pull the Rams as their matchup which means they'll probably get that MNF game. Good rematch game.

That Falcons game was brutal to watch. Watching your division opponents play each other for you to make the playoffs was agonizing.

We're in the playoffs. Do I ecpect to beat San Fransisco or LA? No. But I've been around long enough to know that anything can happen in sports. The Panthers exceeded my expectations this season. I said I'd be happy with contending for the division and playoffs.

Getting in at 8-9 is ugly and dissappointing, but someone had to win the South and it was us. I' just happy the playoff drought is over with.

Uh-oh. :funny:

If I understand things correctly, the Raiders clinched the number one pick with the Giants loss.

The Falcons and the Colts both thought they were looking at much more competitive seasons. The Rams and the Jets benefited from it. The Colts were really derailed by injuries, but the Falcons just played like hell until the end of the year.

So who's on hot seat as far as coaches go? Here's my top 5

1. Kevin Stafanski (Browns)
2. Pete Carroll (Radiers)
3. Jonathan Gannon (Cardinals)
4. Raheem Morris (Falcons)
5. John Harbaugh (Ravens) If they miss the playoffs

This was back in mid December. 3 of 5 gone.

Gannon looks like he's gonna stay, but I think it's a mistake. Harbaugh is still up in the air.

Edit: Actually the Cardinals DID fire Gannon. I'm 4 for 5.

I think firing Carroll was a mistake and IF the Ravens fire Harbaugh, that's a HUGE mistake. He'd have more suitors than Snow White. A team like the Giants would freaking love to get that guy, but I just can't see it happening.

Out of curiosity, why wasn't Tomlinson (if the Steelers missed the playoffs) on your list. Was it more about that the Steelers just hire good coaches and stick with them? I can't remember the last time they actually fired a head coach.

I disagree about Carroll. They brought in Carroll and Geno Smith in the hopes of contending right away. It failed miserabley. Geno just wasn't the same like he was in Seattle. You now have a disgruntled Maxx Crosby heading into the offseason. Hire a young and talented offensive head coach. Trade Crosby for draft picks. Draft your next franchise QB #1 and acquire him some talent over the next couple of years.

I would imagine by now if Harbaugh were to be fired, we would have heard it by now. They probably got into Baltimore late and maybe they're meeting tomorrow. I think Lamar being injured and Loops GW miss probably saved his job.

I had Tomlin on the list at the beginning of December, but thought it over to the fact that the Steelers rarely fire anyone. It's been, what, 50 years? He has one more year left on his contract and I think if there's no AFC Championship/Super Bowl run this year or next, I think they would mutually part ways.

Fair enough, but the Raiders problem isn't a Pete Carroll problem. IMO, it's much more of a QB problem (agree about Smith) and the fact that their O line sucks. You can coach bad players, but you get bad results. Raiders definitely go Mendoza with the first pick, they've got great draft capital (6 picks in the first 4 rounds and 4 in the early first 4 rounds), and a ton of cap space. This is a team that could make big strides next year IF the front office gets their S**T together. Again, IMO, Carroll was not the problem. I think Raiders and Giants would be great landing spots for next year for any coach.

As far as Tomlin goes, the Steelers need what the Raiders needed....QB. Given Harbaugh's and Tomlin's successes, they are going nowhere next year. If one of those teams completely belly flops, then.....maybe. I actually think the Steelers have a shot at getting Simpson in the draft, but he's gonna need some time. Maybe Tomlin walks after next year (didn't know his contract was up), but that guy has worked miracles with very, very little and people are going to be beating down doors if him or Harbaugh are available.

Anyway, it was a fun season and we're on to the really cool stuff.
