I didn’t know Kimi was doing a book either. Will definitely be interesting.

Back to where he started off. I'm surprised they bumped LeClerc up so fast.
It's been one heck of a silly season so far. Not many other people free to move teams!

Well, Kimi is off to Sauber for next year, while LeClerc gets the second Ferrari seat! It's confirmed.

Raikkonen to move from Ferrari to Sauber for 2019

Leclerc to replace Raikkonen at Ferrari for 2019

A bit odd to see Kimi racing for middle field team.

I've heard good things about LeClerc who could be a real contender in future, but it does seem early. Great news for Sauber though!

Killer lap from Lewis today in Quali! Max was good too. Disappointed for Seb's 3rd spot, but hopefully he can do better in the race.

Why would Ferrari want to take Leclerc? He hasn’t been great this season. Odd

One for the future I guess. Plus they probably want to appease Vettel so he knows he is absolutely the no.1 driver and that the no.2 will let him pass, which wouldn’t always be the case with a guy as experienced as Raikonnen.

Vettel can’t afford to give up more points to Lewis at this stage. He will soon be running out of races and will be relying on engine failures or the like.

Race positions unchanged from the start so far for the front 3 but there could be more to come here.

And stay unchanged. Hamilton wins, Verstappen 2nd and Vettel 3rd. 40 point gap between Hamilton and Verstappen looking a bit too far now.

Well, lol! I think your previous post was correct! Now Vettel & Ferrari must rely on Lewis & Mercedes having a DNF to catch up. I don't wanna exagerate, but the titles are slipping away from the Maranello guys...

As for the race itself, it was just one of those boring races. Perez was mental lol! At least we had some entertainment though.

Charles did have some solid performances this season though. But yeah, I would give him one more year Sauber or HAAS before joining Ferrari. But we shall see next year. I hope he does live up to the hype!

I think I read that if Vettel wins every race left and Hamilton comes 2nd in every race, Vettel would win by 2 points. So he really is in last chance saloon as it will soon mean needing to win every race and needing Lewis to not finish one or come 3rd or worse in some races.

Anything is possible, but let's be honest, it's a long shot now! Hard to believe that Seb will win even 4 of the next 6 races, let alone all! Mercedes is not slow by any means we know what kind of driver Lewis is also.

BTW, what is your favorite circuit Iceman?

Yeah, he's put in some decent performances in a lower-end car. I can see why Ferrari want him, I was just expecting it to take another season before they promoted him.

I was really rooting for a Ferrari/Seb win this year, tired of the silver arrows winning, but it's looking pretty unlikely now. Lewis would need a few DNFs and Vettel would have to not make any more of the numerous mistakes he's made this season.

Really hoping I can make it up to COTA this year, but it's not looking likely :cmad:

Bottas takes pole for the Russian GP. Hamilton 2nd and Vettel 3rd.

Looking increasingly hopeless for Ferrari. Grid penalties this weekend are outrageous :whatever:

... Kvyat is back. Again.

Hamilton wins after team orders. Bottas deserved the victory. The gap in the title race is now 50 points and it looks out of reach for Vettel now even if Hamilton does have a DNF.

That was a kick in the teeth for Bottas, Hamilton pretty much has this one in the bag now. Amazing drive from Verstappen. 21st to 5th in 11 laps I think?

Bottas deserved this victory for sure, but I can understand why Mercedes did it. Sucks for the show, but from the team's point of view, it made total sense.

Yes very impressive. He could be a future world champion if he makes the right move at the right time, or Red Bull make enough advances over the next few years.

I think the subject of team orders in various situations (time of season and relative position of all relevant drivers in the title race) should be decided as soon as a new driver is introduced to a team (or promoted). As long as this rule is then stuck to it should mean no one comes off worse or has reason to be pissed off when it happens.
