1947 Cell Phone

maybe he has one of them dick tracy watches.

He's probably talking to the person next to him, had something in his hand, and just happened to put his hand up the moment the photo was taken. Simple as that.
Or the picture isn't as old as they say it is, just made to look that way.

no offense, but
i doubt someone has gone to the lengths of this just to fool a couple people who have come across it.

but i really, really, really, dont think its a cell phone. i agree with everything else you say.

Hahahah are you serious?? He's smoking or coughing.

This person was going through pictures and saw that it looked like he was talking on a phone. It's all about what you want to see. Like Bigfoot and UFO pics.:o

I don't know.... I doubt he would put a lit cig to the side of his face or even cough like that. Beside, he has his hand cuffed like he's holding something.

thats true, a rubber suit and overnight freezing time, strenuous work.:woot:

He looks like he's talking to someone and scratching his ear or the side of his head or something. There weren't cell phones in 1947. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron.

This is just ridiculous. You cant see whats in the guys hand, so there is just as much evidence that he is holding a shrunken Amelia Earhart captive as he is a cell phone.

Aside from the fact that this is just a photo of a guy doing something...could be any number of things, and the picture just freezes that moment. He could be coughing or about to unleash a death ray on his friends.

To me, the most important bit of evidence is the fact that some random loser had impossible for the time technology that no one else seemed to have, and yet no one around him found it important enough to document. That alone says that he did not have this technology.

it's one of thos 1940's portable wind-up phones, I thought everybody would know that!

Bell Laboratories introduced the idea of cellular communications in 1947 with the police car technology and Motorola was the first to incorporate the technology into portable device that was designed for use outside of an automobile. During that same year, AT&Tproposed that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allocate a large number of radio-spectrum frequencies so that widespread mobile telephone service would become feasible and AT&T would have an incentive to research the new technology. However, broadcasting and sending a radio or television message out over the airwaves would come under (FCC) regulation.2

If cell phone technology had actually been available that early, then the military would have used it a lot sooner. Heck, the army was still using wired communication up until the early 1960s.

He's smoking a cigarette. You can see the smoke.

Well first off you would have no reception with a cell phone in the 1940s seeing as no towers were erected!

and if he did have a phone it would be the same size as that ****ing car!

OMG OMG!!!!! taking another look at it, that man in the foreground is totally reaching for his iPhone! OMG!!!!

Everyone knows the first cell phone was the zach morris cell phone:whatever:

I know it's hard to believe; but no one is coming up with any sound ideas what it could be. It does look like he's speaking into some sort of portable device.
Correction: nobody's coming up with explanations that you want to hear. :yay:

Hmmm... not sure what to make of this; but this is definitely fasinating.

That's an interesting find euclid. Thank you... that's obviously info I never knew before.

I have to say, this is probably the best arguement against thus far. Good one.
