A gunman opened fire aboard a train from Amsterdam to Paris but was stopped after 2 US Marines restrained him after they heard him loading the gun in a toilet cubicle. Sounds like he was only able to injure 2 people (1 with gunfire and 1 with a knife) before being taken down, with one of the Marines possibly being one of the wounded. A 3rd passenger, French actor Jean-Hugues Anglade, was injured after breaking glass to sound an alarm to alert others. The suspect was on terrorist watchlists in a couple countries but had somewhat fallen through the cracks.

More details are coming out and the initial reports were inaccurate as to identities of the Americans who stopped the attack. Instead of 2 Marines, it was group of 3 American friends (1 US Air Force airman, 1 inactive National Guard member, and 1 civilian who is a college student in Sacramento) who were on vacation when they took action against the suspect aboard the train. The USAF airman was the American who was injured in the attack, suffering multiple non-life threatening cuts to his hand, neck, and head after rushing and disarming the suspect.

Awesome job by the US servicemen!!!

I changed the title...according to everything I have seen and read, it was a US Air Force and an Army National Guard member along with their in college buddy and a British citizen who stopped the attack. The Air Force guy led the assault on the gunmen with the others joining in. The Air Force guy is wounded from a box cutter the terrorist had.

That battle training from years of traversing that harsh terrain came in handy. And then you have the two military guys as well.

:o

The BBC said that there were 554 passengers on that train.

Awesome job by those guys, especially the Air Force guy who led the charge. That is true heroism right there.

The suspects defence is hilariously terrible. Ayoub-El-Khazzani claims he isn't a terrorists. El-Khazzani says he discovered a bag with guns in a park in Belgium and decided to rob a train with it :lmao:

El-Khazzani was on terrorist watch lists in four European countries.

You know what, I think at this point regarding these groups it may be time to lay aside the political correctness and just call them terrorists.

It sounds cooler than 2 US soldiers, a college kid, and an old British guy stopped a terror attack. You expect Michael Bay to make a movie about that? :o

We need more stories like this  This could have been very ugly.

Great to see heroism come out to stop it :)

Damn!!! Hope he's alright & pulls through.

Sad to hear. Latest news says he is doing pretty good considering what he went through.
