If Tom Brady meets the Vikings in Super Bowl LII, he would have played nearly half of the NFC in Super Bowls.

Rams
Panthers
Eagles
Giants
Seahawks
Falcons

The Patriots level of success is silly. Particularly in an era designed for parity.

Mike Mularkey ain't got a job no more.

Parity doesn't exist in the NFL because the Pats always win.

It exists in the NFC, just not the AFC. Almost every team in the NFC has reached the Super Bowl 1 time at least since 2000 (Rams, Seahawks, Cardinals, 49ers, Panthers, Saints, Falcons, Bucs, Packers, Bears, Giants, and Eagles all have...only Vikings, Lions, Cowboys, and Redskins have yet to get there since 2000). In that same span, only the Patriots, Steelers, Ravens, Raiders, Colts, and Broncos have, with Pats, Steelers and Colts/Broncos with Manning accounting for all but 3 of those trips.

The Patriots haven't won the Super Bowl yet. They also wouldn't have won their past 2 Super Bowl's if the coaches wouldn't have made dumb decisions. The Patriots on the other hand are well coached and have a HOF QB at the helm. Of course they're always going to be in contention.

I would agree on Super Bowl 49. But, in last year's Super Bowl, that was not down to 1 bad coaching decision. That was an all-out team meltdown of epic proportions. To win that game, the Patriots needed like 20 things to happen, and they all did. Some of it was them just fighting hard to get back in, some of it was just all-out panic. But either way, I don't think it was all bad coaching decisions. That one was on EVERYBODY.

But I do agree, coaching matters. The Patriots rarely beat themselves. The amount of times I can remember them doing so I can count on 1 hand (under Brady/Bellichick). There is a reason for their success, and I just find them fun to watch.

I agree that almost everybody on the Falcons had some part in that collapse, but I still think Kyle Shanahan is the person to point the finger to. He was too aggressive in the second half trying to pass the football. Even if he had run it to go three and out a few times, the clock would have been smaller and not enough time for New England to make a comeback. Trying to pass with 5 minutes to go while in FG range and up by 8 was cringe worthy.

Of course no FG in that situation was guaranteed, but at least run the clock down to make it more difficult.

Yes, but no single play call lost them the game. It was a mix of a lot of things happening, and even with all those mistakes, the Pats still needed freak accidents like that Edelman catch to occur. It was just a case of the dwindling lead got in everyone's heads and they got careless. Remember, at any point, Matt Ryan could have called an audible but he never did. Brady or Manning would have.

Oh absolutely. That Edelman catch just goes to show you how lucky the Patriots have been over the years. Good teams thrive on other teams mistakes. That's why they've been so successful since winning their first Super Bowl.

To get back on topic, we were talking about parity in the AFC. It hasn't been there because the AFC had 3 HOF QB's drafted in a 6 year span. Like you said in one of your above posts, only 6 teams have been to the Super Bowl since 2000. I think that will change here soon. Manning is gone, Roethlisberger is on his last legs and Brady might see a completely different atmosphere next year when McDaniels and Patricia leave.

It depends on who Belichick replaces McDaniels and Patricia with. Things could remain the same if they promote from within.

Well I don't expect the Patriots to just fall off the map. They'll still be good, but changes like that in an organization really can have an impact. Not to mention the fact that McDaniels and Patricia could take staff along with them.

Agreed. The AFC will be ripe for the taking fairly soon. Going to be interesting to see if the AFC becomes what the NFC is now.

But, I know even when the flood gates open, Browns will find ways to miss the boat like they always do :mnm:

This year is pretty meh to be honest. When the Steelers get knocked out it's usually alright because I can get into other teams in the mix. I honestly don't care about watching the Jags, Eagles, or Vikings at all. The idea of Fornette making his name this year is somewhat interesting but no Saints, Rams, Panthers or Falcons is a bummer. I'm sorry but the VIkings aren't anyone I get excited to watch and the Eagles don''t have Wentz....so. I'm not even seeing a D that I enjoy watching.like the old Bucs or Ravens.

A Jags/Vikings Superbowl would be way more exciting than the other options.

Eh, I find the Pats to be extremely hateable so at least I woundn't be completely detached watching the game.

1999-2001 all over again.

Elway, Young, Marino, etc. all retired while Manning & Brady came into the league.

Potential QB spots for AFC powers: Broncos & Steelers

AFC has been fairly steady since 1995-present depending on how far you go back (Broncos, Colts, Patriots, Steelers, Ravens).

Personally I want things to open up. When I hear people talk about the toughest divisions in the NFL, I really want the AFC North in there. I'd like to see the Ohio teams get some playoff wins and titles, maybe not as many as my team but still. You can talk about the Cavs all you want but that state is all about football, it's history is football.

Not sure where u fellas are at, but all I have been hearing is how Steelers are going to SB this year, 100%. Steelers, steelers, big ben, antonio brown, steelers, big ben, bell, etc...guess what - did not happen ! Tomlin should be fired after onside kick with two timeouts left and i believe he had the two min warning too. I have no doubt the defense would have stopped Jags for big ben to tie the game up at the last minute to head to an even OT.

Saints / Vikings game was the reason to watch NFL. If NFL took a hit bc of the stupid silly protest political NON-SENSE, Saints vs. Vikings brought greatness back to NFL. I am not a Saints fan at all. I think its so freaking awesome that Vikings could possibly have a home field advantage at SB which never has happened in the history of NFL. The fans will be insane that game. I advise ppl to check out Saints fans reactions to the last play on YouTube.

Gotta root for Jags as the underdogs against Patriots dynasty this weekend. I'm much more interested in that game over Vikings / Eagles. Do I think Jags have a chance ? No. I think ppl are on the hype train due to the Steelers upset, but Patriots will own them this weekend, sadly. It would be crazy to see Jags in SB though. Eagles I think lose to Vikings.

Well, I'm from North Carolina, my Dad grew up a Steelers fan so that's where I get it from. I'm assuming you were asking where everyone is from? Not really into the whole annoyng " Mah Teamz teh best and I getta tell you all about at the bar" vibe some people have. This year I heard more Eagles talk than anyone really, but that was before the Wentz injury.
