yeah i have a whole thing thought up that i would like to propose to WB for an official celebration, but i have no idea to contact them. i asked jett over at BOF but he said he couldn't divulge that information to me, which i understand because they've given him insider privileges and giving me the info wouldn't be professional.

anyway, i think i have a pretty good idea.

and heaven forbid if he offered to forward the info for you.

care to divulge?

Man. It's still so hard for me to believe that Batman 89 is almost twenty years old.

I definitely think there should be some kind of celebration/appreciation.

I'm in. If I can help.

If anything pops off for new york city I'll definitely participate.

How about a theatrical re-release? I had the greatest cinematic experience of my life when I saw ALIEN re-released in 2003...BATMAN would be no different.

A re-release like what that studio did with The Exorcist would be ideal. I mean it's still one of the most succesful films in their catalogue so why not?

It's the only one of the WB live action Batman movies I never got to see on the big screen and it's my favorite one to boot so that would be bliss for me. Especially with remastered sound and all that other good stuff.

A theatrical re-release would be awesome, but completely out of the question for obvious reasons... WB isn't going to release two different films starring Batman and the Joker a year apart from eachother.

And that's quite unfortunate.

I would soooo  a re-release of Batman 1989.

Well, it's still early enough that we COULD get this idea off the ground. How would we go about getting BATMAN '89 a theatrical re-release in 2009?

I'm not a suit, but it seems to me that a re-release of an older film with a die-hard fan base would be almost pure profit for any studio, am I right? How much does it cost to re-release an old movie?

If enough people are found in a certain area, cinemas are willing to rent out screens for a private show.

Someone would have to own an original print of the film.

Unless you could find a theater that used a DVD system.

Regardless i would love to get a chance to see Batman 89 on the big screen considering i wasn't old enough to remember seeing it, although i still have my ticket stub.

People aren't THAT stupid. They know this is the 1989 movie.

I don't think it would be a major issue, but I'm sure WB would be worried about it.

I've seen Batman 1989 on the big screen. A friend of mine is a manager at another theater, and he used a DVD player. It was pretty cool.

I'd go see it again, though.

I've always wondered, what does a standard DVD look like when it's blown up to a theatre sized screen? Can you tell the difference between it and a regular 35mm print?

Well, personally, this is something I would love to see, a re-release of BATMAN in 2009. I feel like, if we gathered enough people and bombarded WB with e-mails it may be a possibility.

I don't think a DVD blown up on a theater screen would look good. Many complaints about the Nightmare on Elm Street 2006 Re-release (which theaters were given the new dvd to show) were that the picture quality was blocky and wavy.

Cinemas can rent the print from various locations. If a private screening is planned, you would have to cover the cost of renting the print (approx $200)

Yeah that's what i was afraid of.

Regardless it would still be an awesome thing to see Batman 89 on the big screen atleast one time in my life.

EON re-released Goldfinger in UK, only selected cinemas (I forgot the what the reason was) It was great to see Connery as Bond. I only saw Brosnan ones & Craig one. O never saw Batman 1989 on the big screen it would be great WB re-release it.

If the movie was more respected I'm sure we'd get a re-release. Sadly, ever since Begins all we get is people bashing B89. Some people just can't enjoy both movies. :csad:

Which is also quite unfortunate.

And it will likely be a cycle that will begin anew in the next 15-20 years upon the next rebooted Bat-franchise.

Yup. And even though I'm not a fan of `50 and `60s Batman comic books I still enjoyed the Adam West series and movie. They managed to make it fun. But, of course, when B89 was released people couldn't like both movies. It's a quite a shame. People can't enjoy different ideas and interpretations.

True, I grew up loving both the '89 film, and the Adam West series which I watched religiously on syndication (especially in that year). But was all too aware of the shots the 60's show was recieving at the time as well. So no, it's not too surprising to see people now taking shots at Burton's films these days.

Just extremely frustrating to some of us.
