From Variety:

EXCLUSIVE: Fox is tossing its hat in the crowded Frankenstein ring, as "Chronicle" scribe Max Landis is writing a screenplay based on the classic monster tale for the studio.Davis Entertainment is attached to produce the untitled pic, which Fox will distribute.
No director is attached -- or even a front-runner at this point -- though studio is eyeing several high-profile helmers including Paul Greengrass. David Yates ("Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix"). Ron Howard had been circling the project, but it appears he's out, given that "The Dark Tower" is still up in the air and Tuesday's revelation that he's in early talks for Formula 1 biopic "Rush."
Studio has kept the logline for its Frankenstein treatment under wraps, though with so many Frankenstein projects in early development, Landis will surely be looking for a fresh angle.

Fox? **** Fox, Frankenstein needs to stay at Universal.

Well if I recall correctly Frankenstein has been public domain for a while.I find the original 1931 film great and Bride of Frankenstein brilliant.I think it be really tough to top them.

If this puts GDT's adaptation of Frankenstein in jeopardy, I'm going to be pissed.

Has there also been like a bunch of Dracula adaptations in pre production for a while too? This might not even get off the ground.
