Some guy with a 360 said he preferred the PC version in my thread, which Morg closed for no reason other than to prove to himself that he does indeed have that ability as a mod, and he loves to abuse it to make up for his shortcomings in real life.

I'm glad you reminded me of custom soundtracks and control that's more than 4-degrees (W,A,S and D opposed to the 360's 270+ degrees of rotation), but I'd like that guys word as well.

I've deleted all of my saves and restarted like 20 times now, I've done a single quest, and all of my characters are the same damn Thief

I restarted for my third time......as a theif again

I tried to to the whole reliant on magic thing but that idea was shat on when i realized I had to go through a painstakingly gay adventure just to get into the Academy.

What other factions are there before I join the Thieves Guild again?

Fighters, mages, and arena you just join. Thieves, either steal something, get caught, and wait for a person to meet you, or investigate after seeing wanted posters for Gray Fox. Dark Brotherhood, you'll need to do an initiation into the gang, ie, kill an innocent

They saw you break and enter/you were trespassing and you got reported/they saw you stole it and reported it/etc. The guards don't see and know all like in Morrowind.

Killing someone? I don't know, haven't done it, I doubt it. Thieves guild can also be joined if you make a big name for yourself as a thief btw, so there are three ways.

The guards still piss me off...I once took like a piece of cheese just laying on the ground, so I took it, and the bastard bursts through the cabin and tells me my spree of evil is over, even though the worst thing I did before that happened was bump into a wine bottle and knock it over

Look at the cursor. If a red icon appears, whatever you're about to do is going to piss someone off if you're seen. I used the left bumper to pick something up, thinking it was ok the first time I did it, but it was reported as theft, so meh. Just be smart about everything, the guards are MUCH smarter about law enforcement here. Shop keepers follow you around, so wait until they're busy with a customer. Guards can't see well at night. Sleeping people are harder to wake up then you would think. People don't let you into their homes and cellars unattended. Just be a smart thief, and the guards will leave you alone.

btw, about lock picking....is it completely random or something? I did the same thing like 20 times and then it finally works

The difficulty is partly the lock, partly your security skill. Your skill probably just improved, or you went to a different lock. The difficulty rating doesn't just effect the number of the tumblers by the way, it's the time they stick at the top for you to press 'a' as well.

And what's the proper way to pick locks?

I think I finally figured it out. Look for like a patter when you push the pins up, then when you know the next flick of the pick will make the pin stick up for about 1 second is when you should press A and proceed to the next one....atleast...this is how I think you do it??

Hit A when the pin sticks to the top. If you don't like it, you can just hit x for auto attempt, though you'll probably lose more picks that way.

Thief > Mage. I can pick locks... just not properly. Auto attempts alll the way. Plus the stealth bonuses and crap rock, and I killed like nine ogres with my bow and arrow/katana, badassness.
