I need to rewatch the episode, but yeah, they definitely were playing to the OG shippers.

The fan service and homages have gotten too thick. Also, way too much Kirk already. Like, just cripple Pike already if this is what you want to do. They should focus more on their unique original characters, just like previous episodes. We needed more episodes like Terrarium's focus on Ortegas.

Felt like we didn't really get anything in depth for Una, Pelia, or Chapel. Chapel felt like a prop in Spock and Korby episodes.

Martin Quinn's Scotty is a serious gem though.

I did kind of enjoy the episode as a sort of view of what likely happened between the Prophets and the Pah'wraiths. They at least avoided that bit of fan service.

Bartel needed to see the koala when she ascended, though.
