It is so weird that they keep upgrading the resolution of TV screens and video. I am fine with that but at the same time, I feel like I have to upgrade my movie collection every 5 years into the latest format.

I am also planning to buy a new TV and I am tempted to buy this curved TV but I don't think I can watch something from a far distance with this curved TV.

I am still very slowly building my blu-ray collection (after owning high 100's of VHS and low 100's in DVD I am trying to keep Blu-Ray in the essential) and seeing the 4k discs and their costs versus the cost of normal blu-ray, and then also seeing the minimal improvement in visual quality, I still cannot see or justify buying 4k for what amounts to slightly better video.

Some people can explain away the exaggerated costs of 4k but I can't. I'm happy with the quality of Blu-Ray compared to DVD. It may not be as large as DVD was to VHS but it still was worth it on a 1080p or even 720p television.

I believe there’s research which indicates that the human eye cannot resolve better than 4K (or, at most, 8K) - at least under typical “home theater” conditions. So at some point, due to anatomical limitations, the continual upgrading will stop. :word:

nah. They'll keep improving the resolution because they're will always be people who claim they can see the difference even when it's impossible to the human eye

i agree. they will upgrade and lie in the marketing.

until they fix the ''black's'' i am yawning. i demand accurate white and black on my tv panel. factory calibrated. for that i would pay 600€-800€.

i am so angry that they are now using the word ''HDR'' for new TV's. because HDR(high dynamic range) means something else and was used in CGI effects for a different purpose. there will so much confusion.
