5 kids in my school have Swine Flu

Well, it's all the kids are talking about. Someone in my math class actually has it, 4 others appear to have it and are MIA. Alot of the kids are asking this ''How many kids have to get Swine to close the school?'' Supposedly, it's 10%. eh, If I get it, I get it. Fun stuff.

It's weird, if 1 kid gets Swine flu in America, they close down the school for a week, but we have 5 and bubcas :cmad::o

Swine flu is awesome. Also, it's less severe than the regular flu. There're a few people in my school who have it, and the men's bathroom now has a sign on the mirror saying to wash your hands.

yeah, The staff haven't siad anything about it, And don't seem to care. But if we get some big spread in the school, they might want to shut down :o

Exactly.

I hate our ****ing media and government. Trying to scare people as if it's a real epidemic. My girlfriend's coworker has 3 kids who all got it and were perfectly fine after awhile.

I'm almost inclined to believe that these deaths they are reporting are BS and weren't entirely related to the actual H1M1 virus.

I agree 100%, Swine Flu is ****tastic. i'm sure their are SOME deaths related to H1N1. But still, it's the weakest Epidemic ever.

I'm still waiting on the bird flu to spread and kill us all. Five years and counting...

the flu kills thousands of people every year
but you got to love the scare tactics

From what I understand the few that have died were pretty old and it was most likely due to weak immune systems, which means they could have and probably would have died from some regular illnesses like the common flu even.

My gf and I have already made up our mind to not get the vaccine since we don't really trust our government and don't trust what they could have added into that vaccine.

I'll take my chances with this flu than get a shot with something they wouldn't fully tell you what's in it.

Swine Flu is somewhat similar to a regular cold, it lowers your immune system leaving you more susceptible to various infections etc that your body is normally more capable of fighting off..

Its still not something to joke over or be happy about when someone has it..

Last time I heard, Swine Flu and Bird Flu were going to join together and infect those Killer Bees that were on their way.... then we'd have Pig Bird Flu Killer Bees

Honestly the Swine Flu is no different than the Bird Flu....Sars...West Nile Virus, etc It is the hot topic for the media to use to sell their papers and such. The CDC averages about 36,000 people die in the US from complications brought on the flu. How many people have died from Swine flu? A couple of hundred in mexico and a few in the States? Not really huge numbers in comparison.

Of course taking precautions such as hand-washing, not coughing into your hands, not sharing items, etc should be always done to help prevent the further spread of these influenzas.

Don't forget Mad Cow and Cronic Wasting....

there was something up here in the midwest... something with Chipmunks like 4 years ago...

If you laughed at any of that, your point is invalidated. Swine flu is funny, and we didn't even have to wait 22.3 years for it to happen due to the overblown hype and widespread of false facts about it.

2012. :awesome:

anyone else hoping for Zombieland? How cool would that be...

Yeah, I'm not worried about swine flu, if I get it, I'll just take a few days off work, take care of myself, then be fine. Whenever I hear about people dying, they've always got an underlying condition, like the last person I heard dying of swine flu had a weak heart. Forget the vaccine, I'm not falling for the media hype.

I didn't really laugh, it's more "ouch" type footage as opposed to "omg LOL so funny!!" footage.. :hehe:

Swine Flu has been badly blown out of proportion, however at the same time you wouldn't think it was awesome/wish for anyone to have any sort of illness no matter how severe it is... would you? If you would, where does the line stop/start?

Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate pig jokes & I can laugh at swine flu... but at the same time despite how overblown it has become, I still don't get how anyone can think its awesome that someone has it :O

Incorrect.

Those most likely to get the virus are younger children, pregnant women, and individuals with pre-existing conditions.

You may have associated the older generation to this, because they are among those who are most often advised to receive the vaccine; weak immune systems among the reasons for this.

My gf and I have already made up our mind to not get the vaccine since we don't really trust our government and don't trust what they could have added into that vaccine.

I can guarantee that a harmless version of the virus is in it. You know, to cause your body to build up antibodies against any future threat of the virus.

It's what a vaccine does.

If you're worried about mercury, MMR, or thymerisol, here:

Who is "they"? Are you unable to ask a physician about it?

No, I wasn't incorrect. I never said those other types like young children(and by young I mean infants, since I know really young kids around gradeschool age that have gotten it and were fine) and pregnant women weren't at risk. I was simply stating that the cases I have heard of people dying were elderly people with obviously weak immune systems.

I already know this, I made it through school.

Hahaha.

You know the government controls this stuff right? Physicians are just doing their jobs trying to help people.

They, is the government. I still find it fishy that they make this big scare about this virus making it sound bigger than it really is and magically get this vacine ready in record time.

Personally, I feel these random and sudden flu mutations that have been coming out of nowhere and recently(meaning the past decade or so) are man made.

You don't have to believe me or even agree with me but you won't change my opinion on that.
