75 Years Today Since Superman Made His Screen Debut

I forgot about those shorts. They were very well animated.

Those were responsible for giving him the ability to fly.

Love those Fleischer shorts. Will probably give that DVD compilation another run through sometime this week. :super:

Hats off to Fleischer and company.

True, although using the "able to leap tall buildings in a single bound" in the narration.
When it came time to animating him in action, it just read better as flying, and he's been flying sense!

Thanks for the reminder that's today!
Comic/Movie fans owe much to Fleischer's Superman.

Also it heavily influenced the look of Timm's Batman Animated Series.

Those cartoons are amazing. Definitive Superman for me. Also Batman The Animated Series wouldn't exist without these.

Definitive?
Those are the definition of Superman without personality.

They are part of the foundation of superman, essential to the framework from where all other versions of the character have come.

Yeah, Lois and the other characters have more depth than Supes does in these shorts, but that's because back then he was meant to be more of a mythological hero guy, as that's what Clark Kent was posing as.

You'd be a Doc Savage fan paling around with C. Lee since there'd be no Batman for Bob Kane to rip off create with Bill Finger. :sly:

these are being released on blu ray soon

Oh really? Yay! I have a DVD of a few of them I got for a dollar in the Wal-Mart bargain bin at one point, but I would love a proper set.
