Die Hard vs Lethal Weapon

Robocop vs The Terminator

Aliens vs Predator

Commando vs First Blood Part II

Die Hard has qualified for the semi final, lets see who it'll face!

VS

As I alluded too in the warm up's to this vote, of the QT's, this is my hardest pick, and my votes going to John.....Rambo.

Both are insane 'man against an army' films and the odds of survival are plain ridiculous but for me I have more affinity to the Rambo series and I'll always support Stallone amongst his 80's action peers.

Rambo's II & III completely go against what was built into the man & story of the first and that for me is a minus point but for what (as I've said all along in HR's aims), it's about an era of utter chaos and carnage and in that respect, First Blood Part II delivers over Commando.

Ooof Sly v Arnie.

Huge game this one, the big boys of the 80's, a classic.

Yeah Rambo is an icon of that time period, Arnie had bigger roles in that time period for me too.

First Blood Part 2 was so OTT as well which sort of defined the 80's action era.

First Blood 2 aged horribly for me. Commando on the other hand is amazing. Hilarious, with excellent one liners, absurd action. It's almost like an accidental satire of 80s and 90s action films. Easy choice.

Man I haven’t seen these two in so damn long since I was a kid.

Heck of a comeback here for Commando, this is their "Istanbul" for sure.

As much as I like Rambo... Gotta go with Commando here. Might be unfair but Rambo kinda loses points for being a cartoonish sequel to a film that had real dramatic weight to it, while Commando is just supposed to be a big cartoonish, but fun action romp.

This might be blasphemous considering it technically spawned because of the original Rambo, but I preferred Commando considerably to Rambo: First Blood Part 2.

This is Arnold at his absolute best in this film, one liner after one liner, over the top with the guns & explosives.. it's a classic & vintage Arnold.

I voted Commando. It’s not quite my favourite Arnie film (Predator, T1&2), but this is classic Arnie one-liners at their best. :funny:

I was expecting Rambo to be winning.

I think taken as a whole, the Stallone filmography of the 80's doesn't quite hold up compared to Arnold's. And the key is Arnold worked more consistently with solid to visionary directors. Stallone... Not so much. When Arnold's career started to lag what you notice is suddenly the quality of the directors went down. Did Stallone ever really ever work with a Cameron or a Verhoven or anyone that comes close? Maybe Renny Harlin on Cliffhanger?

Agreed. I always preferred Arnie and his films back then, but appreciated Stallone more later.

I do not know about best, but I thought Commando was, and is, the more enjoyable movie.

This is what Arnold on reddit said about Commando. And scene he wanted to be included in movie.

As soon as I carried a thousand pound log with one arm I knew it was funny. But let me share the scenes you didn’t see that I tried to get in.

I wanted to cut off a guy’s arm and kill him with it. This wasn’t in the script. He would throw a knife at me and after he missed, while his arm was still extended, I chop it off at the shoulder with a machete and beat him to death with it. Needless to say, I was asked by the head of the studio, Larry Gordon to come to his office. And he said “what the **** is the matter with you? Do you want to make money with this movie or an x-rated movie?”

I said “you’re right” and he said “get the [frick] out of my office.”

One user responded "After killing the guy, what would the one-liner be?" And another one answered
"Thanks for lending me a hand."

And Arnold approved it with "You’re hired" :hehe:

Not quite as big of a win as Die Hard but still a pretty comfortable one for Commando!
