A Comic series based in the BB/TDK realism...

If given the chance, Nolan should write a story for Batman to be published as a comic. He's got a pretty good understanding of the character is like and how he wants to portray him. It would be interesting to see how well it translate on a different medium. As for the artist, I would want Lee Bermejo on it. His style seems to resemble Nolan's vision the best in terms of heightened reality.

But that is because Goyer is writing it. We really have no idea how much or how little Nolan knows about Batman besides the fact that he seems to capture the tone of Batman fairly well. The actual writing is done by Goyer who does write comics. I am not sure what Nolan could add to print as far as writing given he doesn't really write Batman stories, in film or outside of it.

That may be true for Batman Begins, but Nolan and his bro wrote the screenplay for TDK.

I don't think comics CAN really get out of the comic store.

That's not really true. Chapters, which is a big-block book chain in Canada is about as mainstream as a store can get, and they have a spinner rack for comics in the magazine isle, and some TPBs too. These are huge stores that are everywhere, so the comics can get lots of exposure in there. Of course, they won't put out MAX stuff, for example, but still! It's not hopeless :D

Pretty much every major bookstore has a comic rack, but I think Nepenthes was talking about exposure such as supermarkets and 7-11's, places where they were distributed to kids before comics packed up and secluded themselves into specialty shops.
