My close friends and I are setting up a comic "company", for which we need people.

It's non-profit so far, but we'd just like to have a finished product... I guess you could say for bragging rights.

Right now, we're working on a superhero universe. So far, ideas for superheroes are going to the core group we have, or we will create the ideas, then if it's approved, we will pass it off to a writer, and hopefully, unless it turns out I'm the only artist on board, we'll have an artist flesh it out on paper as well.

We're hoping to get as many:

Writers
Pencilers
Colorists
Inkers
And Letterers
[And Models, but that's not the main interest here]

As we possibly can. Right now, we mainly need writers. Then, we will need the rest once we are done with the writing stages.

Let me know if you're interested, we desperately need to expand!

Think of this as more of an entertainment EFFORT, than a company.

*Edit*:

We will hold "tryouts" for each person. Meaning, whatever position you want, we will accept a piece of work from you for each type position you wish to fulfill [i.e.- Writers submit a short story or something of the sort, pencilers submit sketches, etc.].

C'mon guys... We need your help here.

DOOO ITTT!!!!!!!!!!

So, just so I've got this straight, you want to tell people your ideas for characters, and then for other people to do all of the hardwork by doing all of the writing and art work for you?

Also, if you are yourself and artist, it would be prudent to post examples of your work.

I'd help out (Writer) Just not sure if I'm good enough.

Our idea is to create large universe in a more compact amount of time. If you read through, you'd see that we'd be perfectly okay with accepting ideas for charcters from others [the writers themselves, perhaps].

A lot of people have trouble getting started... And we're aiming to help those people if we "hire" them. If the writers we get are good with creation, then we'll let them do their thing. It's a "play it day-by-day" process for us... We don't have a set system other than the fact that the core group of people is going to review everything before anything is set in stone.

All we need is an "application"... Which would be one or more [preferrably more] pieces of your work so we can check them out.

Well, A lot of my work is all over the hype (Only what I comfy with, that is. I save the best stuff for myself)

We'd prefer your best work, but if you'd prefer the other stuff, just give me a link or two to look it.

Just so you know, I'm pretty sure that there's an automatic copyright law claiming that, as long as you can prove you created your work before another entity supposedly stole it, then you can sue that entity.

A lot of musicians mail themselves their own work so they have the mailing record of when they sent the work, proving an estimated time of creation.

Now, because of that, you can protect yourself should you send us your best work. Either way, I'm gonna leave it up to you, as this isn't an official or big-time company, it's not required that you send your absolute best work.

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to set up here. Is this an actual company you are trying to get off the ground? Actually printing and producing comics?

For the most part anything I come up with I'd be planning to write, draw and colour, and probably letter.

I don't know I wouldn't just start sending stuff I've created especially for others approval, personally if it was going to be a creator owned work I would want full control over the characters, settings and storylines.

Guess I'm looking for a bit more detail as to what you want to accomplish.

On a side note... Comicboy, just a caution you shouldn't tell people that you have best stuff, all you stuff should be the best. Otherwise you might find some less willing to work with you.

An art director I knew once had an illustrator ask if she wanted the $50 dollar effort or the $100 effort...needless to say he wasn't hired, why hire someone who isn't going to put in a full effort whether it's for 50 bucks or a 100.

Just some advice.

I doubt we'll get it off the ground any time soon, as I'm in college, one other core member is about to start college [he's almost 20], and the third is... Well... We'll leave him alone :-p.

For the most part anything I come up with I'd be planning to write, draw and colour, and probably letter. Anything we can get, as long as it's credible.

I don't know I wouldn't just start sending stuff I've created especially for others approval, personally if it was going to be a creator owned work I would want full control over the characters, settings and storylines. We'd be perfectly willing to allow that- with certain limitations obviously, as characters are part of a new universe we're seeking to create. Like I said in another post, our creating and giving of characters to writers is just a way for us to quickly expand the universe with the help of those who are bad at getting started.

Guess I'm looking for a bit more detail as to what you want to accomplish. We're mainly in it for the fun of getting a finished product, at the moment. Should we get the time and resources later on, we might actually take it to the next level. Think of it as the same as what underground rappers do, although we're a bit less gangster :-p. Hey, if we make money in the process, sweet!

On a side note... Comicboy, just a caution you shouldn't tell people that you have best stuff, all you stuff should be the best. Otherwise you might find some less willing to work with you. Good advice.

Still good advice, but like I said... We're in it for the fun of having a finished product. We'll have stuff reviewed and edited, but it will be hands on with the creator as well, so as not to piss anyone off.

Just some advice.

Did that answer any questions?

Well, when I say best stuff, I mostly mean the work that is very personally to me. Everything I write I feel is important and/or good. I wouldn't try to do it otherwise.

and thank you.

That's good, if something is worth doing it's worth putting full effort into it. I kind of figured that was what you meant, might want to watch the way you word things though, not that it matters so much here, but definitely when you send submissions or go for interviews and what not it can make a difference.

^^^I like your artwork I saw in the other thread... I'll leave it up to you whether you want to join or not, but I'd actually put my vote in immediately as "yes" when I show your work to the other two, should you take me up on the offer.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask... I realize I haven't clarified absolutely everything.

Is this work going to be published or printed?
If yes, you can count on me as a penciler, i have a fan art thread here in the hype called Rod.M art, ill post a link later so you can check my work

We're hoping to get it published, but so far, we're just working on the writing stages.

I'd love to see your work! Once I see it, I'll pass it on to the others and we'll decide.

C'mon guys, we've got 2 people applying, and one considering it.

Let's keep it rolling!

I can't draw too well but I have lots of original ideas for characters and storylines. I wouldn't want to be too dedicated to this because I have alot fo work I have to do but I'd like to help now and again, maybe post character and story ideas or something.

We won't require overwhelming dedication, as all of the current members are quite busy with other things at the current time.

Let us know what you're interested in doing, we'll check it out.

Alrighty, if you can send me a link or an excerpt of your work [multiple would help, but not required], we'll check you out and let you know.
