So with coughs and colds going around, I figured I might pass on something I whipped up today - I heard that hot, light cardamon tea is good for you if you have a cold (it's like a Persian thing I guess...), I also know of how rosewater is apparently good for making one's body relaxed (something that my family members have been passing on for years), and it is pretty well known that lemon+honey and ginger+garlic are good for coughs and colds. Onion also helps with the immune system.

Bare with me here...

Boil a tea-pot of water.
When water is boiling, ad a tablespoon of rosewater (before you add the tea)
Ad the Cardamon tea (it should be light).
Add one FINELY minced garlic clove to the pot as well as either some sprinkles of ginger powder or shred some bits of ginger root into the pot.
Add a little onion powder.

After you've poured yourself a cup, use honey for sweetener and then add a few drops of lemon juice then stir.

It'll taste kind of funny (because of all the powerful tastes), but after a while it will grow on you and honestly it works.

Enjoy.

PS: I've also heard of some different teas for sinus and soar throats. I could post those too if people would like.

I'm not a doctor so don't bother making sarcastic comments, I'm just passing on what has seemed to be working for me so that someone else with a cold my feel better too.

This is all mind over matter. Nothing but time and rest have been proven 100% to help you get over a cold. But if you believe teas and remedies are going to work, you'll often "make" yourself feel better.

Well tea is supposed to be good for you anyways. :|

Tea is good for you, but people today often put a lot of **** into it that kills the nutritional value. It's like salads. They're healthy, but if you're slathering them with enough dressing to cover a small country the point is ruined.

bow chika wow wow

I completely disagree - what will make you feel better is helping deal with your symptoms. Tea may not CURE a cold, but it will certainly help ease your sore throat.

Relieve symptoms ---> Relieve stress ----> Better immune response?

As somebody who knows me, you could have guessed I wasn't talking about temporary relief. I'm not interested in anything that won't make the illness go away permanently. No amount of tea with honey, lemon, or whatever else is going to keep that sore throat from coming back.

You forgot the part where your symptoms come back in a few hours and you're stressed again.

I know you aren't, but many people are interested in helping to alleviate their symptoms. A week of a sore throat is often easier to bear if you can drink hot tea to lessen the amount of pain.

Sinus and sore throat home remedies... yes please.
Sinus:
Peppermint tea instead of cardamon,
Use the garlic
Use the onion powder
Add cinnamon
Add concentrated Mint Water

Sore Throat:
Use the cardamon tea,
Add cinnamon
Add the onion powder
Add apple blossom water (this **** is expenssive)
Use honey as sweetener
