It goes without saying that certain filmmakers in this business are prone to buying in to their own bulls***. When you put out a Terminator movie that opens SECOND on it's opening weekend, you've got a boatload to answer for. Now, McG(really?)will hopefully learn a few things from this experience. One, the guy really needs to buy a vowel, buy two vowels. Seriously, the condensed moniker does him zero favors. Secondly, it's crystal clear that his strong suit is making hot women exponentially hotter. I'm not suggesting that he go and make Charlie's Angels 3(please, NO!!), but I am suggesting that deviating from a foolproof formula has it's consequences, namely, a PG-13 rated Terminator. To be fair, McG's not the most irritating(Michael Bay)or the most delusional(M. Night Shyamalan)filmmaker in town, but now's the time for this cat to curl up in a fetal position and weep for himself for about a week, then get up and never make another franchise picture again.

Yay!!!! Another thread that's going to start a fight

I think TS put some of the best action I've seen in some time up on the screen. McG obvisously knows how to handle that. It's his ability to evoke something out of the cast and characterization that he lacks.

did you even see the movie?

Opening in second is not a bad thing at all. Especially when you consider the other big movies that only recently came out (Star Trek and Angels and Demons come to mind).

this is all i got to say about MCG

He was more worried about being accepted by the hardcore fans aka the fans that accepted Zach Snyder/Robert Rodriguez/Favareu/etc.Instead he should of been worried about making a quality film and not just an action explosion film.He seems like a guy who lacks confidence within himself he should'nt worry about pleasing fanboys and/or being accepted by us.

Ugh. McG was not the problem with Salvation. The script was.

Get over it. He's not the new Ratner (who himself isn't even deserving of the hyperbolic hate he gets from fanboys).

pretty sure its the suits who let this open against night at the museum who need to answer for something.

this post (mostly the portion in bold) blows my mind. All fanboys DO is ***** and moan about how a director isn't being faithful to the source material or films that have come before it. I feel bad for every director who makes a new franchise or comic film - they're typically f'ed if they do, f'ed if they don't - crucified now matter what they do.

Unless they make The Dark Knight.:oldrazz:

I have no comment on the rest, but on this part, I agree wholeheartedly. It sounds more like the name of a hip hop star than a director who takes himself seriously. I had to try not to laugh when I saw his "name" in the opening credits.

That's what I was about to say. Nolan totally changes the Joker's appearance and after early fanboy whining, it eventually turns into fanboy worship by the time the December 2007 trailer comes out. And now when you go to the Batman Halloween costume thread, everyone's dressing up as the Heath Joker. :hehe:

Yeah, I know it's petty, but he should just go by McG Nichols or something like that.

Another thread on McG?

For God's sake... it's a ****in' movie! McG is just a director .. not some insane dictator that needs to be overthrown.

He made a disappointing movie.. wow! that's never happened before. At this point.. who cares anymore? Go make your own movies so that we can trash them and call you a hack.

I havent seen TS yet, but as a Terminator fan, I am extremely dissapointed in the response it is getting. Yes I think McG dropped the ball, but I havent had confidence in him from the start, its the people who hired him that need to have a look at themselves.

I hate that "OMG LEIK U CAN DO BETTER!11"

********. If a movie sucks, EVERYONE has a right to call it ****. Weather they're Uwe Boll, or Ridley Scott.

Hopefully there will be a real name tied to the next one.

How does the film opening second place the blame squarely on MCG

T3 was PG-13 in every country except America.

You have to look at it from a sports mentality. When the team fails everyone blames the leader. When the team wins the leader gets most of the glory. Any failure this film has the blame is going to fall on McG's shoulders justified or not.

Night at the Museum was always the top favorite of taking the #1 spot this weekend.

It's when people begin getting personal... like the movie or director is physically hurting them in some way that it gets ridiculous. Dislike a movie all you want.. but move on after a while or go make your own. Such a waste of time spending hours writing about a movie you hate.

I love revisionist history. There was only a few people on these boards(myself included, thankyou) that ever said NATM2 was probably going to be number one. And all box office websites last week had TS taking the top spot along with most of you. I don't know what your position was but NATM2 was not the top favorite to take the number one spot by a long shot
