A question i have to ask

Is it true that in uk you can make friends with someone in local comic book shop and later you give them your homemade comics and then you begin selling your own homemade comics at any places to sell and your friend brings his friends to your place to buy your comics and then you get local fanbase networking opportunities skills and you get noticed by local comic book creators?(sorry if I asked this before and if you guys had research I would like to know)
