A Robocop Statue, in MY city? It's not as likely as you think.

Briefly: In what may be the saddest news of the young year, Mayor Dave Bing of Detroit responded to a Twitter comment asking why there isn’t a Robocop statue in Detroit like there is of Rocky in Philadelphia. Bing says there are no plans to erect such a statue, which shouldn’t be surprising as the film is set in a dystopian Detroit that is so wrought with corruption and poverty that a cyborg police officer has to be created. Still, it would be pretty badass.

i live in detroit. we dont have enough money to keep our schools open. and the ones we can keep open we cant afford to save from falling apart. that said, i want my damn robocop statue! right in the middle of campus martius park.

What's interesting is though the movie takes place in Detroit, it was actually filmed mostly in Dallas and Pennsylvania. The third was shot in Atlanta.
