Do you ever just think to yourself, oh my god, this film is happening. It's happening and it's being made by Marvel alone and it's set in 1941! How cool is that!

Think about it, in 1941...

- Bugs Bunny makes his second appearence in "Elmer's Pet Rabbit"
- FDR is elected to his third term in the United States
- Pearl Harbour, the moment when the Allies really come together
- A young Stan Leiber, unaware of his destiny, is made interim editor at Marvel at the age of just 19.
- Churchill tells the states to "give us the tools and we will finish the job"
- Plutonium is discovered
- Ernst Bevin calls on women to fill vital jobs
- Citizen Kane is premiered in New York
- Rudolf Hess parachutes into Scotland
- Hitler attacks Soviet Russia under Operation Barbarossa
- Mount Rushmore is finished.

It's such an amazing time in history. I really hope they encapsulate the time in which this film is set.

Post your favourite moments of that era in this thread if you like

I don't really see it to be honest... It's a year overshadowed by the ongoing war. But I'm glad to see your enthusiasm. As for the film being a period piece, well from the pictures we've seen so far (bikes, subs, armor) it might be a little more Hellboy or League than I was expecting, but that's certainly not a bad thing.

My favourite thing from that era... is Captain America!!

This is why this movie is one of my most anticipated films of the whole 2011 year.

WWII and super heros= Greatness!

My Grandmother helped save lives and fought during Pearl Harbor, along with my Grandfather
