A Lesson is Learned but the Damage is Irreversible went on hiatus recently, with no return expected any time soon. The collaboration of Dale Beran and David Hellman, A Lesson is Learned has easily been the best webcomic published to date; and I believe it among the great achievments in sequential art. Combining dreamlike atmosphere with jaw-dropping visual layouts, each comic leaves you with a profound sense of imaginative bliss. Currently Beran and Hellman's careers have made it harder to keep the comic going, but the work they have done together is fantastic. Such strips as No, I'm Sorry, Low-G Man Relies on His Moonrock, Will we Ever Arrive?, and Getting Over Women are all brilliant, but perhaps my favorite of all of them has been the seconed to last Almost Manageable. Hellman is currently designing backgrounds for a video game and is posting sketches daily at http://www.davidhellman.net/, which also contains some really nice animation.

I was first introduced to the comic by a guest strip the two did for Sam & Fuzzy, which is amazing in its own right.

So far, Now We're Poor Again, is my favorite strip.
