ABC Family Channel playing a Rated R movie ???

History Channel actually does a disservice to their viewers.

I work in a home for teenagers. A few months ago one of the kids was rattling off some kind of alien conspiracy or another and was actually getting pretty freaked out about it. I assured him that it wasn't true.

Kid: "It was on the history channel."

Me: "The people on those shows are allowed to say whatever they want but that doesn't mean its backed up by any evidence."

Kid: "So what History isn't real? You're saying WWII wasn't real then? Yeah exactly. "

They really should be forced to change their name based on this story alone

Just drop a few letters and call it Story Channel. Pretty much sums up what the channel is at this point. We've had a Canadian version of that channel forever, but it took months just for us to get a Canadian version of FXX. You're telling me I have to have the Aliens guy in my cable package, but I can't watch Sunny as it airs? I ain't playing that game.

I blame American Chopper for f***ing up Discovery Channel. It was a ratings juggernaut.

Hey, at least Animal Planet is still about animals. They still do Puppy Bowls. If that's not niche as hell, I don't know what is.

:o

Honey Boo Boo and the Duggars are on "The Learning Channel". No more needs to be said.

Actually I don't think either of those are on there anymore what with all the child molestastion and all

Yup, they've both been canned.

Also, they haven't called themselves the Learning Channel in more than a decade.

nearly two pages and no one made this joke

for shame hype for shame, your punishment 6 hours non stop of the history channel

It's called ABC Family because the channel is co-owned by ABC and another company that owns the 700 Club and airs all that stuff. One of the stipulations that ABC (and Fox before they sold their share to ABC) has with them and the cable companies was that they had to keep the Family name.

Disney actually wanted to change the channel name to XYZ before it was revealed to them that they couldn't change the name.

Yeah, I'm not sure any ABC Family channel show is really family friendly. Especially considering their first show was about unwed teen pregnancy. That pretty much opened the flood gates.

ABC Family is currently undergoing a transition to appeal more to teens and young adults, as opposed to Family. So I'm not surprised.

But since they haven't gone all the way yet, I cna see why they may tone it down.

But then again, they had a sex scene on the Fosters not too long ago, and of course.... The Secret Life of the American Teenager existed. So I don't why they're afraid of Cruel Intentions when the latter was almost as bad, just in a less edgy package.

Pretty Little Liars (a show about murder and secrets) had the love story between a high school student and her teacher. And also step-incest. So yeah.

Do you not learn something while watching those shows? Are they not just anthropology documentaries filmed from a non-traditional perspective?

That secret life of teenagers or whatever, was probably the worst show in the history of TV.

ABC Family: A new kind of family. That sleeps together.
