Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba are teaming with director Michael Winterbottom for The Killer Inside Me, an adaptation of a novel from noir author Jim Thompson, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The story follows a West Texas sheriff (Affleck) and his downward spiral from a boring small-town cop into a ruthless, sociopathic murderer. Alba plays a prostitute.

The novel was made into a 1976 film starring Stacy Keach.

MuseFilm's Chris Hanley, Cyclone Prods.' Robert Weinbach, Revolution Films' Andrew Eaton and Bradford Schlei are producing the latest adaptation, which was written by Weinbach and John Curran.

A mid-January start date is being eyed.

Interesting roles for both.

A couple weeks back, Jared P. informed you all about the forthcoming thriller remake THE KILLER INSIDE ME which is on the verge of showcasing a pretty popular cast consisting of Casey Affleck as a sheriff and Jessica Alba stretching her talents as a prostitute (who most likely will not be showing her boobs). Okay, so you’ve got the better-at-acting Affleck brother and a full-fledged hottie… but what about the bad ass?

Well, I believe that position has now been filled thanks to the recent announcement that tough-guy extraordinaire, Elias Koteas (FALLEN, ZODIAC, right), will be joining the cast! Now, KILLER INSIDE ME has some real punch. Mr. Koteas really knows how to shake up the screen.

Now have a look at the fun-sounding plot: A West Texas sheriff who delves into a downward spiral from a boring small-town cop into a ruthless, sociopathic murderer.

I’m always a fan of “spirals-into-a-slasher” types of flicks. This one is being directed by Michael Winterbottom who co-wrote the final script with Andrew Dominik and John Curran. Once all financing is finalized, filming looks to begin in January in both Oklahoma & New Mexico.

Screen Daily reports that Kate Hudson, Elias Koteas, Bill Pullman and Ned Beatty have joined director Michael Winterbottom-directed The Killer Inside Me, the $13 million adaptation of a novel by Jim Thompson.

The actors join the previously-announced Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba in the psychological thriller.

The Killer Inside Me follows a West Texas sheriff (Affleck) and his downward spiral from a boring small-town cop into a ruthless, sociopathic murderer.

Finally Kate Hudson makes something other than a Rom Com.

Simon Baker, star of CBS hit "The Mentalist," is playing an attorney on the trail of a murderer in "The Killer Inside Me," Michael Winterbottom's adaptation of the Jim Thompson noir classic that stars Casey Affleck.

The story centers on a West Texas sheriff (Affleck) and his downward spiral from a boring small-town cop into a ruthless, sociopathic murderer. The cast also includes Jessica Alba as a prostitute and Kate Hudson as the sheriff's schoolteacher girlfriend.

Filming begins this week in New Mexico and Oklahoma.

Baker plays a county attorney looking to expose the sheriff as the killer.

MuseFilm's Chris Hanley, Cyclone Prods.' Robert Weinbach, Revolution Films' Andrew Eaton and Bradford Schlei are producing the latest adaptation, written by Weinbach and John Curran.

Oklahoma-based Idion Entertainment Group is financing, as are Barbarian Films and OceaniaMedia Finance.

They are supposed to start filming in Guthrie in the next week or so.
