A celebrated military contractor returns to the site of his greatest career triumphs and re-connects with a long-ago love while unexpectedly falling for the hard-charging Air Force watchdog assigned to him.

I've always enjoyed Cameron Crowe's films, they have a charm to them and his music selection is usually spot on. Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper and Rachel McAdams are the leads in this one and I like the premise as well.

Officially titled Aloha.
Trailer:

Looks really schmaltzy but then again so was Jerry McGuire. I just chuckled because seeing Cooper as an Air Force pilot reminds me of when he was up for GL.

So this movie still exist? What an awful situation, having to choose between Rachel McAdams and Emma Stone. The horror.

Wasn't this the film that tested badly because people don't like cheaters? I hope they didn't mess with it too much.

It looks like a good role for Bill Murray. I'll check it out solely for that reason.

This just shot right up my anticipation list, I love Cameron Crowe's movies and his soundtrack choices, his sentimentality is the best kind IMO. The cast is quality, especially the incredible Emma Stone.

Emma Stone = instant watch.

The movie looks pretty good too. :p

Yeah, Cameron Crowe's films are like good mix tapes. Even if they don't completely work, they make me feel so much better.

You forgot Alec Baldwin and Bill Murray. :cwink:

A Mix tape movie? I like that! :D Do you know what the song in the trailer is btw? Jerry Maguire is one of my all time favourite movies and a fantastic slice of feel good cinema to pick me up when life is sucking.

The first song is "Rocks" by Imagine Dragons. The second song is "First" by Cold War Kids.

Yeah, Cameron Crowe movies just make me feel better. "Jerry Maguire", "We Bought A Zoo", "Elizabethtown" and "Say Anything". All good pick me ups, even with some of the more melancholy elements. "Almost Famous" is on my short list of all time favorite films. He is basically the American Richard Curtis. Or Richard Curtis is the British Cameron Crowe. :woot:

Elizabethtown was a terrible movie.
I get that, completely. But it still works for me. Maybe it is my huge crush on Kristen Dunst, don't know. But it definitely works for me. I'd watch the movie just for the awkward courting scenes. Plus, effective use of Tom Petty.

I got nothing against Cameron Crowe. I think Say Anything is an amazing movie with a tremendous script.

But watching Elizabethtown, it's like watching a superstar prize fighter after his chin became shot and made of glass.

I was actually thinking about this today. Probably another trailer soon.

Apparently, they were reshooting stuff for this again.

Makes sense. Apparently the film's idea itself is a bit distasteful for most audiences. They have probably been mellowing it out more and more.

What is it about the movie that they arent liking?

Yikes. Not that it looked good or anything, but I generally like the people involved, so yeah, sucks for them. Though I doubt it's high profile enough to affect any careers in any way. Except maybe Crowe's I guess. Though not really since he was already well into a slump.

I can already tell from that pic that this pairing is forced. Cooper looks too old for Stone. McAdams/Cooper make more sense as a couple.

Might still catch this at at a bargain time. The critical consensus on rotten tomatoes says its too sentimental. I figured it woulf be. All his films are heavy on sentimentally. So I might enjoy it enough to warrant spending $5.75.
