This is a pretty big deal. Right now only Regal and Cinemark are their only competition, if you can call them that.

If this means AMC will update the acquired facilities then I'm all for it. Carmike was a cheapskate company to work for, their operations are run too lean (no regular maintenance done in the auditoriums and understaffed 95% of the time) and the management let awful customers run over the employees.

I know some people will miss the $5.75 4-5:30 p.m. 'super bargain matinee' special, but apparently AMC's matinee special is a tad cheaper ($5.15). And wider variety of snacks and such.

I'm not sad to see Carmike gobbled up.

AMC is always making physical changes to their theatres and i like it!!!!!!!!

I do like their whole streamlined way of showing trailers by just showing the green previews screen once and just transitioning into each one after the other.
