An R-Rated Grudge Sequel?

It's true. The MPAA rating is in on Ghost House Pictures' The Grudge 3. The threequel is the first American Grudge film to get an R rating. Why? "For violence, disturbing images and some language." The previous two theatrical entries, directed by Takashi Shimizu, were PG-13.

In this third entry - starring Shawnee Smith, Matthew Knight, Beau Mirchoff and Johanna E. Braddy - a young Japanese woman holds a secret to ending the curse of the Grudge. She travels to a haunted Chicago apartment building where she encounters a family battling to survive the ghosts. Together they confront the ghost of Kayako to save their souls from their impending tragic fate.

Toby Wilkins (Splinter) directs from a script by Brad Keene (The Gravedancers). We'll keep you posted when a release date is announced.

Sounds like the other two, except no SMG. No thanks.

About the only thing drawing me to this one is: Shawnee Smith.

Was she in the Saw movies? Might people get confused?

Haha, that trailer had straight-to-DVD written all over it. :funny:

I thought it would be a theatrical release

Well, I didn't get this joke. Change it a bit and turn it into a spoof. Because it is funny. They worn it out.

I agree with you, but with my luck it won't be released at all, I like the first one just the second and the third one looks morbid.

what they should have adapted was script to Ju-On 2. have you seen that damn thing? the final scenes will mess you the f*** up!

I wish they would stop trying to do American re-makes of legendary Japanese horrors. Every single one has been a disgrace to the original.

I hear now that they are doing an American re-make of Oldboy!! Stay the **** away from it!!!

BTW this is a Direct to Video(dvd).

Its kinda sad to see how hollywood has rapped an Asian movie series.

Could they not even bother to get the same young boy and woman as Kayako and Toshio?

it's not a remake of the movie though. I think it's an adaptation of the graphic novel (not sure if there is one, but that's what Will Smith said)

The first Grudge was utter garbage... I can't believe it had ONE sequel, let along two.

I thought the US remake of The Ring was pretty good.

But unfortunately, so did a lot of people - thus everyone jumped on the J-horror remake bandwagon and screwed it all up.

I thought the first was good...the second was crap. Same for the Ring.

But that trailer was horrible.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!! Ju-On was hardly legendary. At best it was decent, if not slightly meandering! It's not that I don't get J-Horror, it's just that I think some of these films aren't all that great to begin with, so I don't let the remakes get my panties in a twist.
